Daggle Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 I have no idea about this, but hopefully someone out there might be able to help. I want to set up a website for a small business, but how do I go about it? How much will it cost? Who do I speak to about it, without getting ripped off? Is it something that I could design on my own? Any advice would be great, cheers
MightySprocket Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 what kind of business, i mean is it a shopping site?
Daggle Posted June 4, 2009 Author Report Posted June 4, 2009 No its a gardening/landscaping company, one man band family thing
richie_stix Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 well, two options..... find a webdesigner on here and get them to do it in exchange for goods, money or services.... otherwise look at 1 and 1 internet (google it) and they might have the package for you, easy to customise with pics and stuff as well as a whole range of practicle nolt ons
sampedlar06 Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 I got a website for 2 years for £20-30 ill find out where i got it from and post it up later. Just dont know how to use
MightySprocket Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 try 1-2-3 reg, simply worry free hosting, and use one of their templates, designs done just add the content. give me a shout if you need a logo
FredTransit Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 The grand total of what we pay for www.a2ecommercials.co.uk for £20 a year. I built it myself and most of the cost goes on keeping the ads off an otherwise free website. You don't need a URL, but it does look more professional. I use www.1and1.co.uk, for the URL, it's about £6 for 2 years just for the URL and matching email, which you then redirec to to your website and your own email address. The good thing about redirectable URLs and email is you can keep one email and still change where they end up, without having to change what people see, like your business cards. So that's www.webs.com for the website its self (£14 to take the ads off) www.1and1.co.uk for the URL and email (£6 for two years) the webs.com is very easy to use. You can set it up and them when you are happy with it, pay to take the ads off. Oh, and try www.vistaprint.co.uk for free business cards.
MightySprocket Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 Oh, and try www.vistaprint.co.uk for free business cards. Vistaprint are pants, try www.printbuyingdirect.co.uk - they aren't free but very talented, witty and good looking ill sort your design out FOC

ChristophStone Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 I'm also looking to get a website built. What sort of rates is decent to get someone to do it for me? Something only very simple but with a customised layout and pictures etc, rather than a template from webs.com ?
Daggle Posted June 4, 2009 Author Report Posted June 4, 2009 Wow! been at work all day so haven't been able to read all the replies, thanks to everyone for all the leads, plus all those that have PM'd me. I will do some chasing up over the next few days once I have spoken to Chud (me bro)
