after spending all yesterday afternoon trying to get the engine and gearbox back in my cortina, got as far as the gearbox (i must have droped the bolts for the remote change through the floor at least 20 times). the fooking engine will not for the love of god go in, i gave up, coped a strop slung me tools across the garage and attacked the budwiser, anyway its round 2 and im awaiting reinforcements. call me a useless nob if u want but its just not my thing, fiddly little bolts etc. and lining things up with great accuracy. at least tomorrow i can go back to doing what i know best, which at the moment is demo work, the joy of beating the shite out of something with sledge hammers.

if it aint in today there will be a very dented mk1 gt cortina on ebay,some assembly requied

Cars can very frustrating at times, Always good to have another pair of hands available too, Hang in there mate, you know it will be worth it in the end

Been there,done that,got the t-shirt.

 

The last time I fitted a gearbox I had to call in re-inforcements as I spent a whole day struggling my arse off trying to get the bastard thing to fit.

 

The time before it slid in first time with no messing about.King' cars.

 

I'm almost ready to do it all again but this time I'm fitting the engine and box together and then sliding them under the car and then lifting them up into position.I find this a lot easier when you're doing it on your own.

i know that feeling very well! Been all weekend trying to bleed the bloody clutch out on my mk2 tina took an hour to get the box in then another 24 to get clutch to bleed. Ive given up and gonna go back to it tomorow! arse!!!!!!
