Dont worry too much about your launching to start, just get the gear changes right, Dont be afraid to rev it, Once you ve got that bit sussed then start practising your launches, Start at 4000 rpm then adjust accordingly, If you bog down, then you need to give it more off the line, Get wheelspin then ease off the pedal a bit.

Good luck. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Oh and its a slippery slope Graham :lol::lol:

dont worry about going dead on green as others have said

practice getting fast runs and going quicker, later on once you are used to it, you can try and get better reaction times, as Antz said, nail it on yellow/orange, when the last light before green comes on, cos by the time your react its green!

a lad used to race drag bikes with us, and sometimes he'd sit for a few seconds with the light on green, the head off and run a very very quick time, your time is only measured as you set off and break the timing beam. You could sit for 30 seconds on a green light if you wanted, then shoot up and run a decent time.

Although It's not recommended to mix heroine and 1/4 mile racing.

All true  - also could try adjusting tyre pressures, down if you are wheel spinning or up if you're still bogging despite revving the nads off it!

Enjoy!

aint done much of it myself but get the right revs to start, to much and you wheel spin to much not enough and you bog down at the start practice your launches at different revs to find your best (on a private road of course  )

Thanks guys, hoping to get some pretty hard launches down, as iv got a nice strong transmission in the car now, rather than the taxi gearbox

Forecast rain so could be interesting.

You saying im slow Antz?

Just got home, cracking day, payed 35 quid for unlimited runs including insurance 8) Never more than 5 or 6 cars in the fire up lane so i got 30 runs in

Got my time down to 14.1 @ 100mph not bad for a road car on well worn 175/50's.

Kill list includes 2x subaru wagons, 09 plate vectra VXR 2.8 Turbo, JDM civic type r, zetec caterham, 2x Nova XE's and a Corsa XE.

Beat a 387bhp cosworth too but he did struggle to launch.

All melted plastic

Its run by www.straightliners.co.uk and it was up at Kirkbride Airfield near Carlisle. There was just the one price so i guess its included. Bargain if you ask me, just over a pound a run, insured 8)

It had half a tank of fuel in it aswell. Loved giving it death, my mechanical sympathy went out of the window when i started to see the times come down :oops:

Long first gear in my new 'box is a godsend, doesnt want to wheelspin off the line half as much as it would with a standard box.
