BeigeAl Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Hello all, My name's Al and i thought i should introduce myself as i've been a member for a while now but haven't got round to posting up! I drive a beige mk2 2 door escort on 7inch superlights and i've just bought a standard 2 door mk2 cortina. Both cars started life as auto's - the escort is now 5 speed but im gonna keep the cortina auto as i love the hassle free driving it gives! I might even give up manual altogether! If ever ever buy another car its got to be an auto - those are the rules now! Anyway, looking forward to membership on here! Cheers

Admin Vista Posted September 5, 2009 Admin Report Posted September 5, 2009 Welcome to the site, autos are my preference too and I've had them as a daily drive for some time now. You have to watch with the new road tax bands though as they are usually thirstier than their manual counterparts and end up in the next road tax band
BeigeAl Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 I didnt know about the auto tax band - does this apply to new, old or all cars?
Admin Vista Posted September 6, 2009 Admin Report Posted September 6, 2009 I didnt know about the auto tax band - does this apply to new, old or all cars? It's not specifically an auto tax band it's just that autos typically produce more Co2 than their manual counterparts so you often find that for cars taxed according to emissions (post 2001 I think) the auto ends up in a higher bracket than the manual.
