Tom Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Had a power run on the rollers today at the show at Gatwick and the Escort made 185 bhp at 7100rpm!! I'm very happy with that seeing as its internally standard! popped a heater hose afterwards though coolant everywhere! Ho hum Great show guys!!
Tom Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 cheers guys - now i just need someone to make it 200!
Toby Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Good result - shame I was too busy to go, sound like it was a good show.
evildave Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 that's pretty similar to my xe what carbs? etc are you running? i'm still trying to hit the 200 mark without major changes and expense
Tom Posted September 7, 2009 Author Report Posted September 7, 2009 Hello mate, its a standard Xe, apart from arp rod bolts, on 45 del'lortos (38mm chokes), ashley manifold and system with the sparks taken care of with a megajolt system - all tuned on the road with the laptop on the passenger seat and a multimeter reading off of a lambda sensor
gpcmatric Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 nice one Tom .Good to have a chat mate.
evildave Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Hello mate, its a standard Xe, apart from arp rod bolts, on 45 del'lortos (38mm chokes), ashley manifold and system with the sparks taken care of with a megajolt system - all tuned on the road with the laptop on the passenger seat and a multimeter reading off of a lambda sensor nice one, that is good then!
Toby Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Hello mate, its a standard Xe, apart from arp rod bolts, on 45 del'lortos (38mm chokes), ashley manifold and system with the sparks taken care of with a megajolt system - all tuned on the road with the laptop on the passenger seat and a multimeter reading off of a lambda sensor My friend had an XE with a similar spec to yours. It went incredibly well. He then changed the cams for some racey ones and it never went quite aswell - or as quick at Pod. Just shows how good they are standardish!
Tom Posted September 9, 2009 Author Report Posted September 9, 2009 Yeah i've been reading up on cams on SBD's site. it seems that you need pocketed pistons to fit even a mild cam! I reallycan't be arsed with that business at the mo as it goes really well - i would like to try and find some more torque though I'll have a play with some jets and timing and if that goes flat i'll take it to the rollers to see if they can find some for me I was reading about a guy on another forum that has got quite a big spec, expensive Xe with only 190bhp (well, not only) but his torque is around the 170-180 mark
evildave Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 i have cams & pocketed pistons and making just under 190bhp @ 6750rpm, set up at track n road, slightly ported head, twin 45 dellortos, & mbe ECU. my cars on the sbd site under 'customers cars' if thats a comparison for you car would rev higher and make more power i'm sure but still on standard rod bolts.
Tom Posted September 10, 2009 Author Report Posted September 10, 2009 what was the torque figure bud? I might just leave it alone!!
Tom Posted September 10, 2009 Author Report Posted September 10, 2009 Dave, Toby said we should have a drag race. Where and when?
evildave Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 i found 'my old print out from track n road yesterday, was 183bhp & 153lb torque @ 7250rpm. after some research it looks like i'd be better going back to some velocity stacks rather than the airbox i fabricated, also i need to find the exact cam profiles from sbd.
Toby Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Dave, Toby said we should have a drag race. Where and when? Who me? Instigate a race? So when then?
