Arfur Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Dave Brodie's Supersaloon Capri. One of those cars that you hope someone one day will dig out from the back of a barn.
4parajon Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Dave Brodie's Supersaloon Capri. One of those cars that you hope someone one day will dig out from the back of a barn. I read on a racing forum that it had been stripped and then scrapped
BIGKEV Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 love the car, but think it should look more like a hotrod, thunder saloon type thing. i mean it needs paint/vinyl!! only my opinion, but i am right!! Glen you are very correct!!
Retromotorsport Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 why dont btcc have crazy cars like these now Because Brands hatch taken over by a doris ... Nicola Foulston, in 1990, along with some other circuits that where owned by BHL )Brands Hatch Lesuire) she shat on the thundersaloon championship from a great height in one weekend when she anonounced that all cars competing should be current production cars, rendering over half the grid obsolete .. Some teams built new cars like the Empress Escort Which was built at the time at a cost of 127K using a Lola F3000 as the base, front and rear suspension and the Lola's transaxle, but with a V8 engine up front, carbon Fibre bodywork and Minilite split rims .. But because the grids where empty, the championship folded, and the cars where mothballed, or broken up, Some moved North to do the Northern saloon championship, including Rod Birleys Porsche V8 engined S1erra, Rob Cromptons V8 Vauxhall Belmont sometimes competes in the DMN down south, but most cars where lost, engines and boxes sold on, wheels gone, axles etc and shells scrapped. the 70's Supersaloons and the 80's Thundersaloons where the best racing going.. and something that should be bought back .. Ohh And Nicola, she sold BHL for 120 million ... ohh well

Retromotorsport Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 well up for them bring it all back - Gary have you any videos of these races at all? There is a whole load on youtube .. search thundersaloon and rolling thunder
QuadCamCapri Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 Dave Brodie's 'Run Baby Run' went to Germany way back, I guess it got broken up over there? Put a Thuindersaloon race I video'd at brands in 1988 on Youtube a while back, just click the youtube link below then go to my other vids. Often used to race at the same meeting as them, always made for a great race weekend
