Mr Sam Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 great to see Toby and the cortia again this ran a 7.4 good to meet KP at last too another very quick super mod Mr Nightmares Fiat 126 with the engine in the wrong place the roll cage was holding this little thing together Toby's 12 second pre-crossflow battle of the pushrod's hopefully this one should need no intro quick truck it stuttered on the line and chucked a big flame ball out but still ran a 5.9 @ 275mph Steve Dray cheating Rich Sav loved this beauty
Toby Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Good to see you too Sam Some great pictures there. Some awesome times run yesterday - the weather was perfect. Shame my exhaust manifold broke just as I put my slicks on Very pleased with my 13.0 on treads. Dave College ran 10.4 I know KJ and Jason Elvy also ran PB's. I will let them tell you their times. Well done everyone though - brilliant day for racing - perhaps not so good for watching as it was a little "brisk" The Red Fester was lovely
Mr Sam Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 did he really i saw some young lad in it run an 11 summin next to KJ but waited on the lights which was a shame and yes huge well done to KJ he ran a pb (hes now running the gas) but then 2 runs the car hopped forwards breaking the beam and red lighting which was a shame, tense moments trying to get the rear lights working too a believe Steve Dray also ran a PB without gas and got to within 1/10 of his PB with gas i saw your car up on the jack Toby and darent come over to ask if it was the gearbox
Toby Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 did he really i saw some young lad in it run an 11 summin next to KJ but waited on the lights which was a shame i saw your car up on the jack Toby and darent come over to ask if it was the gearbox No mate just taking the prop off for towing - the oil doesn't get thrown over the gears when the box is driven from the prop end instead of the engine end. Thank you for your concern! The 11.2 was Dave's mate - Nathan - who had never been in the car before. I think he thought he wouldn't be very popular if he'd lost it into KJ's car - hence the start! Given how sideways he was in second I don't know who was more scared - Dave or Nathan! Amazing car though - to be able to let off and still do that time for a first drive was noteable!
H.P.E harry Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Some great times run by all it seems, toby 13.0 on street tyres
ratman Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 this ran a 7.4 Great pic Sam is this Andy Robinsons old S i e r r a S a p p h i r e ??
novanut64 Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 no andys car was destroyed in a crash afew years back that is the viveca averstats/alan packman ex pro mod now run in supermod by andy(fred)hone
Toby Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Some great times run by all it seems, toby 13.0 on street tyres Thanks mate. Shame the manifold broke when I put the slicks on - although I'm not sure if the new gears will suit the slicks although on paper they should I swear the more I do this sport the less I understand it!
Mr Sam Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 and if Toby doesnt understand something its not worth understanding!!! ahh yeah i think Tony mullerd a T5 box that way on a dolly
Toby Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 ahh yeah i think Tony mullerd a T5 box that way on a dolly Yeah - I learnt the hard way too. Me and my mate would be in the van saying - "did you hear that?" and "what the fooks that?" Then got all the way to shakey in the past to find the gearbox fooked. James Harris did one too. Be warned!
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 19, 2009 Admin Report Posted October 19, 2009 Tody .... did you manage to get onto "The" List?
Toby Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Tody .... did you manage to get onto "The" List? I did, only he seems to have me down as toNy. Is it that bloody difficult?? I wish I'd stuch with the treads, I think the slicks broke an engine mount and the exhaust manifold on the first run with them. Made a nice change from shafts and gearboxes
TomB Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Toby what did you run on the slicks? or did you not make a pass due to the manifold?
Toby Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Toby what did you run on the slicks? or did you not make a pass due to the manifold? No mate it broke straight away. It did 12.91, 12.92 with the exhaust on and the manifold blowing. Terminals had gone though so it was affected. You did flippin' well 12.4 in the end? - you must be well pleased. Thanks again for the heads
TomB Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I did bloody well, it was a 12.38@108. Ive fixed the diff problem now too. Im going to work hard on the cortina over the winter i promise. No worries about the heads, glad they can be some use to you.
Toby Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 it was a 12.38@108. Crazy little french thing! Good - so the Cortina WILL be at CF day next year!
ekjim Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 tomB That is an excellent time! Is it the cortina in your sig you done it in? Is that cosworth powered? cheers, Jim.
Toby Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 tomB That is an excellent time! Is it the cortina in your sig you done it in? Is that cosworth powered? cheers, Jim. It will be one day - but for now he did it in a renault 5 turbo (+ nos) It is an amazing "budget" road car - leaves most (nearly all) expensive built R5's eating dust!
Gaz15 Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 That wee Fiat looks like its about to flip over on its arse
