evil knievel Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 I want a bit more poke out of my daily and I'm very tempted to build up a 1600 x-flow, with 1300 pistons and all that la de da. It's a 1300 mk4 escort I just need something to play with because my capri build is at a standstill. What sort of price range are we talking? I nearly can't resist the budget build!! So convince me or stop me guys.... Should I do it?

mk1mexico Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Keep it for the capri. A rwd 1600 block isnt a straight swap anyway into a fwd escort, so you would be looking for a rarer mk1 XR2 engine to start with.

mart @ fpe Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 put a zetec in it by far the cheapest power for pounds engine out there and if run with the injection would be very reliable ive got a mk6 escort as a run around with a 1800 zetec ive done 10k in it in 10 months and havent had 2 lift the bonnet apart from the usualy checks and i serviced it when i got it and where abouts are you if got all the bits 2 put a zetec in a mk4 escort for cheap i need them gone

I'm just a bit sick of this car which nearly died on me today (clutch) and is shaking my brain at of my skull every day (engine mounts/clutch).
