Copey Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 who sells the full kit, cam, followers, spray bar, valve springs for the cheapest? on burtons its £233+del is there anywhere cheaper?
X-pack-Glyn Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 just buy the cam and standard followers, all the rest you can get from factor for half the price, even kents short pad followers are identical to standard ones and come from the same place with identical markings on. With the money saved you get an adjustable vernier and get it set up propperly. I think escort21 learned his lesson by buying a full kit, after 2 weeks a kent spring broke, and within another 2 weeks the follower wore out because the supplied kent spray bar oil jet completely missed the follower... now all that remains of the kit is the cam itself which i told him to just buy anyway.
X-pack-Glyn Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 fair do's, cheers No probs dont like to see anyone waste money... and burtons is all i use..if youve used em before they may do free delivery and a plastic timing disc if you ask nice, they did for me.

samurai Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 I have this cam Long duration and lots of overlap and long power band and good valve lift...poke poke poke http://www.kentcams.com/product/prodDet ... EngID=204# All good so far
Guest chriscapriman Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 fr30 is a great cam in a road capri or tina, lots of torque from low down, but fr32 is better in something lighter like an escort or track capri . nowt wrong with profile specs of kent, but quality of all of thier components is poor in my experience , have heard very good things about newman, especially these carbide padded followers, think my next new kit will be one of these, depending on copeys

Toby Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Don't forget a good oil will have a marked effect on cam life. Valvoline R 20-50 will help cam life compared to something like GTX or the like. If a cam has an agressive profile this is a good thing for performance, especially tractability, so be sure to use an oil with the sort of aditives required by these extreme presure profiles. If after market cams improve an engine's performance you have to ask why ford didn't fit them - it's because of follower / lobe life. Use good oil and follow the correct running in proceedures.
ASBO CAPRI Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 With the FR32 cam can you use the standard pinto valve springs or must they be stiffer?
X-pack-Glyn Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 With the FR32 cam can you use the standard pinto valve springs or must they be stiffer? ive had no probs with standard springs on FR30/32 and RL31 up to 7500 rpm
