sparkycapri Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Anyone with gas bottles I've been told they have to be bent when cold as the heat weakens them & they are more likely to snap

3litrepete Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 I used my 12 ton hydraulic pipe bender to do mine, I did a little bit at a time & worked along the springs until I was happy with the result, It took me about an hour, I was told that if you heat them, they have to be retempered to get the spring rating back
escortmad79 Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Leda used to do them, is this no longer the case?
over_head_cam Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Normally, if you do a DIY job you will heat them at one end (rear shackle) and bend it there. Then, as that bit doesn't really do much 'springing' they will work fine Or take them to Gartrac
