side by side with the tyres on, are they much bigger than the 13's?

Have you noticed a difference mate?

yes mate I did

The larger wheel has a 195/50/15 tyre as apose to the 175/50/13, and the whole wheel sat a good 2-2 1/2 inches higher,

It has raised it up a bit, I can actually get it out of my garage, onto the road and out of the end of my road with out grounding out three times now

The drive to Box hill round the back roads was not as bumpy and didn't ground out at all, it actually drove a lot nicer

YES it has lost a little acceleration of the line,

Purposefully took it home the long way via the motor way and it definitely is now able to cruise at a higher speed than before,

So the exercise was a success I think

looks the tits mate. 8) what about fitting 185/60/13s to the 13s,i stood my 13" revos with 185/60/13s next to the same wheel with 175/50/13s & they stand about 1.5" higher? and then i can help you out even more & take them 15"s off your hands

 I dont think the 185/60's on a 7j rim would get under the rear arches mate, the 175/50's only just fitted

Hi

I was thinking of getting the same wheel tyre combo for my MK2 but in the black minilites does anyone know if they will fit the MK2 okay with out any mods. i have currently got 7X13's RS wheels with 175x50x13 yokohama tyres.

I have attached a picture to show how low the car is at the moment, its way to low at the moment i struggle to go anywhere especially with the condition of the roads near me.

Any advice appreciated

The only advice I can give, which is only my opinion - leave as is as the car looks spot on, love the colour, wheels, orange black thing you got going on.

And if you do change anything lower the front a bit more to match the back.

Car is super cool, love it. 8)

Couldn't agree more - crossflow powered too 8)

What scrapes? If it's the exhaust could you mod it?

Had the exhaust done can't go any higher. I live in alittle village and struggle to get out of it. the exhaust at the front hits the floor at the slightest camber. and because the roads are so bad its always hitting something.

I like the look of the way it is but i can't drive the car so my thoughts were to raise it slidghtly by using bigger wheels at least then i can keep the same sort of look. whereas if i raise the car any other way it won't look right sitting on the 13" wheels.

Hi mate, They went straight onto mine with loads of clearance, I was worried about the same thing too,

There is generally more room in the MK2 rear arch than the MK1 so I can see why you should have any issues,

Dont get me wrong, I still love my 7x13's but it drives a whole lot nicer with the 15's

Hi

Took the plunge and got the 15" wheels and tyres from Midland wheels and also got some coil overs for the front.

Only problem i had is the drivers arch had been replaced in the past and the lip was a lot bigger than the other side and rubbed at every bump, have now grinded it back a few mm and alls perfect.

Drives much better on country roads, no more grounding and also cruises comfortably at motorway speeds, nicer for the longer journeys
