fullbrek Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Hi guys, me and my buddies are in need of some knowledge. We are located in Ontario Canada and just picked up a 1975 Ford Escort MK1 RS2000 of which we have to do a full rebuild from the body up as the shell is in need of some major repaneling including chassis rails and whats not. Any suggestions on affordable panel manufacturing companies and tips would be appreciated. Another question is with the brake balance bar pedal boxes with cable clutch actuation fitted to the caar, would a remote brake servo booster also be necessary for a ideal pedal feel? We want to get rid of the whole rs brake booster set up. Thanks alot guys and we will be posting pictures up of the build as we go along. Cheers.
Admin Vista Posted November 29, 2009 Admin Report Posted November 29, 2009 Expressed panels do a lot of stuff for classic fords, Hadrians panels also still list some stuff http://www.steelpanels.co.uk/ http://hadrian.dominohosting.biz/hadria ... (1968-1975) Wings though are still currently unavailable though there are indications that they are soon to reproduced by a chinese firm called Vautop.
escortmad79 Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Emailed Hadrians about the wings & they have no idea when they're coming in! Won't be until the new year at least!
alimax motorsport Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 give us a e mail can help you on that alimaxmotorsport@aol.com or check out the web www.alimaxms.co .uk some prices on the panels have gone up thanks alwyn
fullbrek Posted December 1, 2009 Author Report Posted December 1, 2009 Thanks for the links guys. Will email you alwyn. Got a question, if you run a balance bar pedal box, will you still need to run a remote brake servo or brake booster? Thanks agin guys.
Admin Vista Posted December 1, 2009 Admin Report Posted December 1, 2009 I've never seen anyone with that set up running a servo and don't plan to myself.
fullbrek Posted December 1, 2009 Author Report Posted December 1, 2009 Thanks big time guys. Always wondered if you still needed a brake booster if you run a balance bar pedal box. Rather ask a stupid question to get the right answer than to not ask a stupid question and prove your stupidity LOL.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted December 1, 2009 Admin Report Posted December 1, 2009 Ask as many questions as you like guys .... I am sure you will always get some good answers on here Alwyn will be able to help you ... he is one of our sponsors and builds Escort rally cars for a living and he knows his stuff
mk2 matt Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Thanks big time guys. Always wondered if you still needed a brake booster if you run a balance bar pedal box. Rather ask a stupid question to get the right answer than to not ask a stupid question and prove your stupidity LOL. some people run a servo on the front brakes when useing a bias pedal box
fullbrek Posted December 9, 2009 Author Report Posted December 9, 2009 Thanks again guys. I got some other questions, are 45 DCOE weber side draught carbs too much for a 1300 xflow motor, standard bottom end but double valve spring big valve head, with lightened flywheel and stage 1 clutch? Same engine has points ignition want to run electronic ignition. Will eventualy put 1700 bottom end up and would like to have a electronic ignition kit I can use with both the 1300 and 1700 blocks. Any guidence please. Who would have these kits and at a fair price. And lastly I see some guys with a single wiper conversion on their escorts or maybe a more modern application for the wiper motor and assembly. Where can I pick these up from and any ones experience on them. Thanks again guys.
Joe-ashtonmobile Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 40s are plenty for a 1300 also bestek do a pukka ignition kit
alimax motorsport Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 yes it is possible to run a servo with a bias peddal box the orange escort we built ran twin servos on a bias peddal box we have the set up for that system on drawings alwyn
fullbrek Posted December 10, 2009 Author Report Posted December 10, 2009 Thanks. Question alimax motorsport, with the servos, I guess the amount and if you choose to run them is up to driver feel? The reason I asked about the 45 DCOE on the 1300 is that I want to do a little work on it get it running for the summer to have a little fun before I rebuild the 1700 over next winter as I destroyed 3 pistons in the 1700 LOL. Thanks again guys.
fullbrek Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 Hey, is there any modern windsheild wiper motor and assembly and heater assembly systems for the Ford Escort MK1? Would like to know if there are any other options out there besides the stock items. Thanks.
Jeff HPE Motorsport Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 We have Highspec brakes allround obviously with rear disc conversion with a bias peddle box & the brakes are superb! stop on a sixpence as the saying goes! "you don`t need a servo" we originally had willwood` all round & they were not so good but still a reasonable brake! Why a 1300 in a RS2000 ? Jeff Harris..
fullbrek Posted December 16, 2009 Author Report Posted December 16, 2009 It's not a 1300 in a RS2000 LOL, sorry for the mix up, My mate has a MK1 RS2000 in Canada and I have a 1300 2 Door MK1 in Barbados. Just trying to get some much needed knowledge as we need some LOL. Thanks.
