105E anglia cosworth

Had the anglia since 2000 and was intending to chuck 1600 escort running gear under it for my son to drive as his first car.

He got interested in mini's so i did it up for myself

Anglia finished and time on my hands thought i would make use of an engine i had bought a few years before.

Lotus esprit twin turbo V8

A mate had a Mk 2 Cortina that was not going to get finished, so it was game on !!

First though was to get the engine working, as it was broken with lots of bits missing when i got it

Took a year to source all the missing parts bolt it together and test run it, before i started on the donor car.

Missed not having a topless car. so thought i'd make the s i e r r a

convertable.

Before i cut the V8 about i did a dummy run on a damaged 1.6 3 door, which turned out not bad so kept it as well as the V8

At the time i was running another blue three door, with a 2L pinto for work, so had three ( plus the missus had a red XR4i)

Hence the nickname S i e r r a

Is this the same S i e r r a convertable that had a little cameo on Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld tv programme when he went to the Dry Street Cruise?

Hi guys, yes i am one of the founder ERIC's, and no it does NOT stand for essex racing is cool,

Robin was an ERIC, but i've not seen him for years, might still be Southend way though

The convertable was in a passing shot with Clarkson, what a chance that was, a real case of being in the right place at the right time.

I only ever went there the once and parked in the public car park.

When in there my son was dissapointed with the cars parading around the track, things like avengers with an extra stripe .

Ash said get your car in dad, so we did, and as it was our turn to enter the arena, Clarkson took the mike to introduce the next car to the crowd, which happened to be me :D
