t33stat Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 I'm finding that i just cat be bothered at the moment, my car is at a stage where its pretty good, but not quite done, and its all those niggly bits, that are just a pain in the ass lol. When its nice, i end up spending the day out with mates, and when its rainy i cant do anything on the car, i need to take the carb off to fit a manual choke as it refuses to start with the non working auto choke, bit for me its such a fiddly job lol Anyone else have this problem? Ryan
wetandwindy3 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 its the joy of restoration nearly everybody gets it from time to time especially when you set yourself targets that cannt be met ,cure is usually to leave it well alone for a while and the enthusiasim usually comes back
2litreScapri Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Yeah we all suffer from it I think. I am trying to get my P100 back up & running but have had to start with another chassis cab which needs restoring but no tools for the job + no money + Capri needs just as much TLC for daily driving + Alfa drilling a hole in my wallet quicker than they made the channel tunnel is not a good combo. One of them might have to go if it gets worse
squadge78 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 i'm like this at the moment, got a capri in the garage which i said i was gonna get stuck into over christmas, the only reason i have been in the garage is to get more beer.it happens to us all. i get the missus to come and help, she keeps me company and gives me a kick up the ass.
stevepeanut Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 we all go through it. May capri is sitting outside, I started stripping off the wheels and brakes so I could replace the coil springs. Had trouble seperating a ball joint, and now its either dark, cold, pissing down etc. So I am just leaving it till it gets warmer and the nights are longer, and I'll get back into it
GT_lenny Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 my cortinas in a nice warm garage but for some reason i cant be aresed just latley, i've had a few bouts of this through out this project so i know i'll be all fired up in a week or so
Fishtailparka Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 From August until Xmas I do bugger all. Then in the New Year I seem to gradually pick up speed. If you don't feel like doing it, don't. You are more likely to mess it up.
914Driver Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 20 degrees F, three inches of snow on the ground more promised. Cold, cold cold in the garage. Yesterday I took over my wife's warm spot in the cellar, woodstove right where she does stained glass. I lapped valves and installed new valve seals. Thanks honey! Jesse James says the last 10% of any project takes 90% of the time. Don't let your bonnet become a workbench. Happy New Year, chin up! Dan
Trevmk3 Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 i get that cant be arsed feeling quite a bit, i would of fixed the broken bits on the cortina when it heppened towards the autumn but i squashed my finger and then some people let me down for parts and i ran out of holidays trying to get my shoulder sorted at the hospital (which still isnt right after nearly a year) dont want to cut the car apart till ive got the replacemnets to put on
stevepeanut Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 my biggest problem is not having a garage for my cars. I do have a garage, but its very very long, but thin, so no good for cars. I keep my bikes in there. I dont mind working on the bikes, got a heater, good lighting, ipod docking bay, all my tools at hand, crack a beer and I can be in there all night. But my cars are on the drive way, so its always cold, damp, and on a week day I get in around 6pm so its always dark. I would get a lot more done if I had a double garage
pauln Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 One of the worst (and best) things I did was help Glen in his works bodyshop. Having all the facilities to hand is really great. Trouble is when I want to do something on mine in my little damp council lock up garage I realise just how crappy it is working there and I tend to give up fairly quickly. I will have to kick myself up the arse and get on with something soon as the MOT is nearly due.
johnston_evo3 Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 My problems not enthusiasm, but the fact my hands arms and wrists give me gyp so couple of hours workin means a few days of askin the mrs to put my socks on
