Johnson Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 Id go for the crossflow for now, then build up the zetec and a collection of all the conversion parts, and sling it all in at a later date.
Retromotorsport Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 I'd go with neil and Johnson ... if you have to ask the questions, follow the KISS theory.. Keep it simple stupid. Its a theory that everyone from the oldest days of modding to modern day F1 uses. And Neil has hit on one of the most frustrating things we find at the end of the phone/email/pm ................... " i want an all singing and dancing Ferrari beater of an Engine/chassis/looks/etc and i have no budget/dont want change engines/dont want to cut the cars shell/etc " Don't get us wrong, we like people finding things out, looking at whats been done, how this has beaten that etc , but its frustrating when we know what works and the person asking says they dont want to do this or that. Theres nothing wrong with sticking dirty great big engines in cars, but when the drive horrible you have to ask " was it worth it" .. No as its not an enjoyable car, and its cost loads. Its all about balance ... a well balanced car will be quicker( and more enjoyable) than a car thats not .... its no good having 300bhp and standard suspension, yes it will drive and yes it will be fun ......... right up to the point you try and beat a 300bhp car with suspension to match and at 120mph you crash off the road following the better balanced car through the corner. So .. rant over .. go with what works , simple suspension mods, and a simple engine, a 130bhp x-flow can be drivable on the road and fun... and fun is what makes the cars what they are
Morley Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 Engines in Anglias... hmmm Having a similar debate myself... The rumour is that i'm fitting a jet engine fuelled by the tears of squirrels
Daggle Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 Go for the crossflow for ease and cheapness, go down the Zetec route for more tuneabilty
105Speed Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 i think zetecs are over-rated personally Obviously a man who has never driven a Zetec powered Anglia
Daggle Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 Im going down the x-flow route, only cause I don't want to cut the bulkhead and am trying to keep it old skool, yes I know that the zetec is a better engine but I just can't budget for it at the moment
Wessie Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 i've just heard negative things about the engines neil, everyones putting them in nowadays and for me its a bit boring to put a zetec in it put a duratec on TB's in it or a jap turbo
Wessie Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 yeh - i like to be different , IMO i you dont want to cut the body go for a x-flow and keep it standardish but if yuo want to cut the body go the whole way and do something bonkers mines nearly mid mounted
LUKE261 Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 mine has a pinto, but as neil said it aint really worth it mate, the hastle you got etc if i built another one id stick a 1760 all steel mass or boss x flow on twin 50's lol
LUKE261 Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 but there has been an anglia with a nissan 200sx turbo engine in it which is basically a 4 cylinder nissan skyline engine. you can pick a whole car up 4 about 300 quid, im not sure whats involved in the conversion tho, id say a lot of hassle tbh you need 2 take the whole loom out the nissan and wire it into the anglia 4 a start, £300 may sound a cheap option, but be warned it would probably end up costing a lot more in the long run. as ive said before tho 1760 all steel x flow with twin 50's ykt
pelvins Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 maestro turbo seen one of these in an anglebox before and it flies bit of a job to build though
