stuartp Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 they look fine to me but some older style ones might look better maybe one of the clever photoshop people on here could mock you up some ideas?
stevie Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 Yeah im really not sure about them. Sometimes i think they are ok, then i tell myself steels would look better. They are 14" with 185/60's.
bortaf Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 They look Ok mate trouble with the Mk3/4/5 is getting dished wheels due to em using FWD offset wheels like the sierra still looks fine to me
moredoorAsh Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 At first look its a no........ ....but the more i look at it....... .....yep its a yes now Know what your saying about the steels though
stevie Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 I quite like some alloys on Mk5's but i think they are a duifficult car to get wheels right on. Its a shame to change them cos the tyres are all very good and id have to buy more if i change the rim size. Ill keep a lookout on fleabay and see what comes up.
Yeomans22 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 they look quite nice, maybe some wheels of a granarda?
NeilT Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 loving the car but im not feeling the wheels imho
arch Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 ther not to bad looking mexico steels would look good on ther. i hate it wen they put 17s on mk3 4 5s jus looks rong an very chavy imo. but i think they look okay mate i wouldnt be in no rush to change.
stevie Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 Im still 50/50 on them. I would love some Ghia alloys but i cant find any fairly local. I did think about spraying the "stars" satin black but i think that might ruin them. Ill have to do the photoshop routine i think
YOUNGY Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 i think it looks good mate looks like a nice clean motor
stevie Posted January 6, 2010 Author Report Posted January 6, 2010 Cheers. She aint a bad one by any means. A small scuff to the edge of a rear door and a small spot under both headlamps. As usual the top corners of both wings are suffering under the bonnet but luckily its not showing on the wingtops yet. Ill get those plated rather than get new wings, they arent anywhere near bad enough to throw away just yet. Otherwise its a fairly tidy old bus. The only problem i have that i want sorted asap is the grinding noise from the rear end at any speed. Its either the halfshaft bearings or the rear wheel bearings. I did suspect the diff but they dont usually grind do they??? I thought they just whined at speed. (Bit like the missus hahahaha)
In The Pit Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Looks really nice, one of the most sought after colours for the MKV (Crystal Green). I'd definately change the wheels i'd go for Ford sport steels (silver black squares) with chrome rim embellishers.

I'd definately change the wheels i'd go for Ford sport steels (silver black squares) with chrome rim embellishers. Yeah i love those and the Ghia alloys. Ive done a quick photoplop on the current wheels and done the centres in a gun metal grey. Looks ok on the piccy but ill decide what to do with them if i cant get a set of standards or Ghia's.
morgan Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 i think thay look good with rs2000 wheel on them
.pete. Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 now i've seen this picture I can't imagine any other wheel looking better
stuartp Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 is there a motor minilite style wheels don't look good on?
stevie Posted January 7, 2010 Author Report Posted January 7, 2010 I think this looks a little better

If you haven't tried already ask the people on www.buysellcortina.co.uk someone there should have a set of Ghia or Ford Sports wheels or be able to point you in the right direction.

Yep, registered on there. So far none have come up for sale but ive found some ford sports on fleabay. Hopefully they wont go silly cos i dont think they are worth much just yet.
retrorigg Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 I think this looks a little better if ur gonna do the centres black id do them gloss black but leave the nuts chrome, but imo id leave them silver, im very fussy when comes to wheels but they actually look quite good
stevie Posted January 10, 2010 Author Report Posted January 10, 2010 I was going to do them anthracite or gun metal grey. The pic was a very quick photoplop bodge Just seems so strange that when i was driving around in these as my everyday car i couldnt wait to get rid of those old steels and get some "wheels" on them. The old steels were just thrown / given away. Now i want them they seem so hard to find.
