hello johnson...... i love your fez.... read through the thread on it on xrtwo the other day. HOT!!!

decided to keep money spending down to a minimum on the festa until the capri is done, thus giving the capri more money and also not wasting money in the festa just to change it all around when the capri goes on the road and the festa becomes the big project.

excess weight was pulled out today in the form of:

sound deadening, remaining interior panels that arent needed, stereo and speekers etc.

finished changing all the ignition stuff and fitted the new starter solenoid. still waiting on suspension but that should be sorted tmrw.

also pick up a set of wings and a front panel for later on.

also modified the original seat rails to take a set of corbeau bucket seats today:

MOT is booked for thursday so that leaves me tmrw morning before work at 11.30 and the same on thursday morning and any time after work that can be done quietely as i finish at 8.

jobs still to do...

finish the seat second seat mount,

remove one of the bars from the first seat mount,

get some more steel tube and reposition the removed bar,

drill the mounting holes for the seats,

pick up the second seat,

bolt the runners to the seats,

bolt runners and seats into the car,

cut the mounting plates off the harhess shoulder straps,

adjust harnesses,

relax.

heres a coupla pics of bits of work so far....

the frame welded to the runners to sit the bucket on (the rear bar needs moving forward 5mm)

dropped off the mother at the airport this morning early, gone to meet the old man in japan so the house and garage are mine for 21 days woooooooooooooooo. no1 hassling, no1 in my way and i ve got a week off work starting tmrw!!!!!

to start off the time off i got through some bits and peices:

IMG_2593.jpg

IMG_2595.jpg

i had heard the ral-des coilover kits had sorted their top caps out so i took a risk and theyr alot better than before:

IMG_2594.jpg

ive got the lip on the bottom pulley ground back flat so the fan doesnt foul the crank pulley bolt, then got this through to go on it:

IMG_2598.jpg

IMG_2581.jpg

manifold is coming along slowly with the collector making progress:

IMG_2596.jpg

temp rested stuff in place to have a look how it sits. find a way to fit the heater to water pump pipe through there:

IMG_2567.jpg

and bonnet clearance should be fine with a strut brace going over the blower:

IMG_2573.jpg

should have some good progress updates as the week off goes on.

after popping up to the portsmouth meet yesterday the fiesta wasnt up for the drive down to southsea front so i split and headed home. got in and headed to the garage, late hours meant i couldnt get on with big jobs so settled into fabricating a bracket to hold the crank sensor in place. i made it with a level of adjustment in it so if it needs it it can be adjusted for better signal strength etc. got the trigger wheel welded onto the pulley first....

IMG_2638.jpg

also got the wiring tidied up.....

IMG_2622.jpg

IMG_2629.jpg

then got up today and was quite happy with the weather and working conditions. couple of jumpers and headed out....

the only think stopping me getting the car down on its suspension is the exhaust and stripping the underneath. tackle 1 at a time so:

IMG_2625.jpg

start by cutting more out of the floor. now the exhaust is routed high enough and fits then i can start putting metal back around it.

got a couple of hanging brackets sorted to support the exhaust in place...

IMG_2623.jpg

IMG_2624.jpg

IMG_2642.jpg

IMG_2643.jpg

IMG_2631.jpg

the previosuly mentioned weather turned as soon as i was defenseless and was under the car. puddles formed each side so i stayed under and carried on until i was soaking.

IMG_2626.jpg

finiseshed seaming the exhaust mounts about 2hr ago so made a bit more progress on the turbo manifold but batteries died on the camera.

work tmrw, then 2 more days off and then 1 day at work b4 the weekend. maybe on the floor by end of monday????

cheers. paul
