And this shaft is going from where to where ?????

have you fitted the seat yet.. the pedals ... the engine and box etc .. wheres the gear lever come out ..

I use a standard length shaft in the racers .. and the end of it is inside the floor pan, and it has a Q/R hub on the end.

basically im just mocking up my steering system and i was jast wondering if i have to use 'given lengths' or if i could use different lengthed shafts  and it will have a Q/R hub on the end 8)

Yes,measure the diameter of the shaft and count the number of teeth on the spline, they should be able to make it from that.

I have made up shafts to my own lengths buy cutting off the splined ends from an old shaft and tig welding them to a plain shaft,or you can cut a section out the middle of the new shaft you have bought and have it welded together.

***WARNING***

You must get this welded by a pro to ensure you get a safe strong weld, and make sure the shaft is straight after welding!!

I shouldent say this, I have splined my own, using a cut down UJ and a fly press, I also cut a flat on the pinch bolt so it would clear the shaft, drilled out the thread in the UJ so a nut could be fitted , made several passes with a bit more pinch on the nut on each pass,

Or cut the splines of , get some CDS and insert the splines inside the birds beak end (a v slot in the end) and have it TIG'ed up.

Infact if anyone has any bent broken etc shafts around i'll take them off your hands
