rscapriman Posted January 3, 2007 Author Report Posted January 3, 2007 Nice pics, did the RS2600 not have dummy vents? Hi Scott. no they never did, thet never even had a centre console until the facelift model. Cheers RScapriman. heres one of the pair together.
Admin Vista Posted January 3, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 3, 2007 Quite a collection you've had over the years, are these your only current ones? P.S. Do you still have the mechanical fuel injection system on it and who maintains it for you? I'm struggling to find anyone who knows anything about maintaining them.

Hi Scott, yes the car is running with Kugelfischer Injection everything is as original, when I rebuilt it in 1998 I had a company in Chipping Sodbury Nr Bristol check out the injectors one of which needed cleaning, because of the low mileage approx 40,000 they advised me not to pay out to have the Pump checked as they are so reliable and I had the fuel pump at the rear rebuilt to original spec by a company in Nottingham who I believe are no longer in bussiness. In the last 8 and a half years of running the car I have had to replace the therm time switch and the seals on the top of the valves on the Kugelfischer pump ( the latter being available from BMW). What are you running with Kugelfischer? and what problems are you having? Regards RScapriman.
Admin Vista Posted January 3, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 3, 2007 Mines not Kugelfischer mate it's an Italian system called Spica and is fitted on my V8 Montreal. I just wondered if you knew anyone hot on mechanical fuel injection I have idling problems occasionally, it can be reluctant to to drop back down to it's usual 900 rpm and will stay up around 1800rpm. If you load it up by bringing up the clutch with your foot on the brake it drops back and sits there ok, so it maybe just needs a bit more use. I've also had to disconnect the cold start solenoid as it floods it all the time. The car has only done 43000 but had been left to sit for years. I've fully rebuilt the engine but took a gamble on the fuel inj system being ok. P.S. Are you from near Chipping Sodbury then?

Hi Scott, thats a very pretty car love it, it seems strange that it floods all the time or is it only when its warm? if so its probably the thermo time switch this is what happened with mine, when cold it was fine but when warm the time switch could not read the temp so the cold start injector would fire a load of fuel in and flood it the only way to start the car then was to disconnect the cold start injector. I dont live in Chipping Sodbury I live about 20 mins away just off J17 M4. There is another place you could try called Turbo-Jection at The Gibb Nr Marshfield on the Bristol road out of Chippenham I'll try to get a Tel No for you. Regards RScapriman.
Admin Vista Posted January 3, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 3, 2007 It only happens when it's cold, and only if the cold start solenoid is connected. I've taken to leaving it off, it takes a little longer to start from cold but still fires up after 5 to 10 seconds. So if you're not far from Bristol fancy bringing one of your toys along to a meet near Exeter on Jan 28th? if so add your name to the list in this thread, there are already quite a few coming from the Bristol area and there will be magazine coverage I believe from Classic and Retro Ford http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... &start=135
