What is the right water sensor for my escort?

 

Pinto engine.

 

I had 1 sensor and i didnt get any readings so i got another which had a black band and still no readings.

 

What colour one do i need to work my mk1 escort clocks?

i'm sure its a red one mate, try earthing out the connector to make sure your gauge is working

im pretty sure your right vista the colour code relates to the car not the engine

you have a mk2 not a mk1 the colour relates to the car dash not the engine type
