Chris! Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Looks solid, you should lower it and put a set of superlites on it And paint it gunmetal grey
Onyx Dave Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Nice one James, Daytona? indeed they r but i have 4 13" rims on my drive lol and a nice set of mk2 front legs for now just need to find time to fit em lol Hasn`t it already got disc`s on the front? Got brake servo which if factory came with front disc`s. If you change front struts to mk2 don`t forget you have to change the steering rack aswell. Keep us updated m8, new MOT on mine now, straight through
flyingbanana Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 i never changed the steering rack when i conveted mine ,just the track rod ends
Onyx Dave Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Which legs did you fit, RS or std mk2? Has your rack got fine thread or course?
james p Posted January 3, 2007 Author Report Posted January 3, 2007 Nice one James, Daytona? indeed they r but i have 4 13" rims on my drive lol and a nice set of mk2 front legs for now just need to find time to fit em lol Hasn`t it already got disc`s on the front? Keep us updated m8, new MOT on mine now, straight through i aint cheeked to b honest just assumed lol i have a spare rack too i dint think your one would have any trouble
flyingbanana Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Which legs did you fit, RS or std mk2? Has your rack got fine thread or course? i think they are mk2 struts and i changed the top mounts to the mk1 , dont know what thread they were are has it was done a few years ago,i dont recall changing the steering rack to a mk2 but i changed tie rods has the mk1 are thinner and also the felxi hoses has they were different thread
Onyx Dave Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Sounds like you already had a mk2 rack fitted, course thread (metric) as std mk2 track rod ends have a thinner taper (metric) than a mk1 or RS leg. mk2 RS track rod end has course thread and larger taper. Be very carefull as you can fit mk1 or mk2 track rod end tapers too incorrect legs which could become loose
flyingbanana Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 i got the legs at classic ford show few years ago ,had no problems with that happening they are tight
james p Posted January 4, 2007 Author Report Posted January 4, 2007 it does have discs nice one dave one less job and it passed but the rad went on the way home and the feul pump packed up too but then it has been laid up for 14 years soo all good as far as i can see
v6pop Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Dont forget to change all your brake seals(master as well),they may not leak now but if they have been dormant for all those years it wont be long. Be safe...worth checking over.
flyingbanana Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 and you can get new seals from here http://www.pastparts.co.uk/
quickrack Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 DO A FULL BRAKE/STEERING/SUSPENSION CHECK JUST TO BE SAFE MATE. NICE LITTLE RUNAROUND YOU GOT THERE. GOOD LUCK WITH IT.
