Grizzley Dell Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 thats why oldens are better, no poxy computers controling every thing. basic is best.
RossMK2 Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 thats why oldens are better, no poxy computers controling every thing. basic is best. and bet someone at toyota isn't getting a bonus this year perhaps this is what you get for making hybrids
Grizzley Dell Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 dont like them but needs to be done. the less petrol they use the longer we get to run our classics
RossMK2 Posted February 4, 2010 Author Report Posted February 4, 2010 dont like them but needs to be done. the less petrol they use the longer we get to run our classics good point
Andrade Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 dont like them but needs to be done. the less petrol they use the longer we get to run our classics That is true, but until battery technology does a humongous leap forward, personally i think atm all this hybrid talk is a bunch of crap which is required to get the ball rolling. Hybrids: Prius: 48mpg Non-hybrids: Peugeot 407: 48mpg Smart: 40mpg Honda insight: 43mpg Toyota IQ: 58mpg (yes 58 ) Until hybrids start achieving at least 70+mpg I don't think it's worth it. What would be good if car manufacturers want to experiment with electic vehicles, they should grab their crap city cars like the Hyundai atos etc, (which no one cares about anyway) take any useless electric gadgets out, and offer a full electric motor alternative for those people who commute for about an hour or two daily to go to work and back. Surely two hour battery life wouldn't be so hard to achieve?
rousecapri Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 the car in front has brake and acclerator problems oh it must be a toymotor......................
LGreen Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 my girlfriend drives a 1.5 turbo deisel mitsubishi colt, 40 miles to work and then 40 miles back each day and is always in the 60mpg. main country road as well then queueing to get into york. She even had 72mpg out of it one day as an average. So yes great that we need new technology so classic cars are saved but untill it gets better its not going to kick off. It needs to work on exactly the same basis as petrol, by which i mean, when your car runs low you pull in at nearest "petrol" station and spend 5 mins toppping up. cant be taking a nights worth opf charge each night. people just wont do it. lg
Grizzley Dell Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 i know its all pants at the mo but its going the right way. im a proper petrol head and have loved engines since i could hold a spanner. i wouldnt entertain anything thats modern for myself. as said im good with a spanner but i dont do computers and dont want to pay some spotty geek £75 to plug a car in for 5 mins to tell me i need a £25 sensor that i can change in 10 mins. what a load of testies
RossMK2 Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 i do think all new stuff is clever but can't beat an old car with a carb
SebringRS Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 I think my RS is pretty economical...... £15 per fill up (thats what fills it to the top usually) Takes bout 4 months to use all that (probs cus i dnt use it as much as i should ) But thts not the point And if you think bout it, like what Top Gear said, they arent saving the environment at all, what with the material used in the battery's, the ships which bring them over. Were saving the environment more here by Buying old used cars which were made here (so no need for shipping) and no need to spend on parts because there already made Global Warming Solved.........................OSF style
filicapri Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 toyo, just put a 'ford' v6 in it and turbo it
