GJUK Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Awwww, cute eh. They get quite big though... Being the 2nd biggest fresh water turtle, the Alligator Snapping Turtle will remove your hand when this size. They live up to 200 years of age as well, with some old 'uns with musket balls having been found in them!!! Cute eh.
sambo Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Awesome! But why would you want one as a pet? They are just viscious little bar stewards arent they!?
GJUK Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 Awesome! But why would you want one as a pet? They are just viscious little bar stewards arent they!? I've always wanted one. Kept crocs, poison dart frogs and snakes before but these are up there as the ultimate turtle. They used to be cheap £10-15 quid a few years ago but they're now Cities 1, meaning they require paperwork and they're much more expensive now. I love him! J

GJUK Posted February 17, 2010 Author Report Posted February 17, 2010 What do you keep it in ? He's inside, in a large fish tank at the moment, they're quite aquatic, males never leave the water. Wow...it looks really life like! That's because it is. lindsey wants a turtle im getting a snake in about 4 weeks There are not a good starter pet though lol. You can get common snappers cheaper but they're more active and although smaller you're more liable to get bitten by one as they can reach right around their shell. J
