All the on the edge motor racing, more or less unscathed, and falls down a lift shaft! life's a bitch, get well soon Sterling! first saw him at Brands hatch in the mid 50's......

affraid not being a ex lift engineer i've attended a few accidents like this.

as a lift is a mechanical devise it can fail just like your car. most lifts use optic eyes reed switches or magnets to stop and start.

if one of these fail this can go whats called in the trade as out of step meaning the lift gets lost in the sharft. it's possible for the doors to open

by mistake if it see's a magnet or a reed switch anywhere near where it stops. basicly telling the main control panel it's in door zone open the doors. it dont happen often. lucky he was'nt 30 floors up :shock:. sorry for going on but lifts was my life once apon a time :oops:

Who on here knows who designed his lift, ok not the main operating system but the lift part that he would stand in. !! I do I do & its not a lift maker either there was a magazine feature on him recently & it spoke about said lift.
