retrorigg Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 were all mk2 escort chassis stamp on the o/s strut top, my t reg ghia has its original strut tops but no stamp
kevmk2 Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 My old mk2 had no stamp, then realised it had new inner wings at some point in its life. Can always tell if its had inner wings but looking under the wheelarch, near the chassis rail area, there will be a line where its been replaced.
retrorigg Posted April 1, 2010 Author Report Posted April 1, 2010 im just on with strippin the underseal / paint from the engine bay and defo cant see any signs of any replaced panels (inner wings) welding, was it stamped there on all mk2,s 100%
retrorigg Posted April 1, 2010 Author Report Posted April 1, 2010 whats a service shell, had a good look today and its defo not had inner wings or strut tops, its even on the original outer wings,
rallyesport04 Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 service shell means been re shelled when you could buy them new off the shelf
retrorigg Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 how would i know if it is or not, it could be i guess as its never been welded ,as in in good shape, its got the vin plate on the slam panel, would it have a tell tale number on there or is it a case of they just swap everything over from a fooked or crashed shell, would there be anything on the log book to give me a clue
