i know my 1982 cortina is way past the leagel date for black and silver number plates

but will the police really bother me as its a old ford anyway??

so would you just stay original white/yellow plates

or go black and silver

Stay with what you're allowed to display.

As I see it, if too many people take the piss out of the rules concerning black and silver plates, everyone will lose the right to display them.

someone told me that with number plate offences,

ie small plates (like the bikes use)

or using black plates on modern cars

you can get a couple of fines, and then on the third, the dvla can confiscate your reg number and V5 and issue you with a Q plate

As said before, keep em for the older pre 73 cars,

i use black and silver on mine, but when im out in it i haver my white and yellow ones with me.

My brother got a producer for a small plate on his bike not a fine so im not sure if it would be the same for having the black and silvers on or not? could vary from area to area and copper to copper

I had Black and Silver plates on my Mk1 Fiesta for a while.. Had quite a few coppers behind me (traffic and normal) and none ever pulled me, until I got an 'ex MOT tester'

Only a £30 fine, they looked ace though :ykt:
