stevepeanut Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 I've just got home from the leeds classic meet, poured a beer, and theres a knock on the front door. Our lass answered it, a young lad, asking if he can buy the cortina. He seemed to have had a good skinfull of drink but was very polite, and our lass told him no chance, its not for sale

fostersice Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 When I first started to build my car the scrap man knocked every week lol
squadge78 Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 to be fair i've done it,if the car looks unloved and can be saved i go round in my capri and knock on the door. spotted a 2 door black mk2 lotus tina under a sheet not long ago, went and left a note, but no reply and the car then got replaced by a chavy focus. always worth a try, u never know ur luck

Its always the cars that apprear off the road they want. If they maybe for sale I tell them a realistic price and you never see them again. They all want the cars for fook all, I'm not going to sell my car for less than its worth, how the fook do they think I got it
stevepeanut Posted April 10, 2010 Author Report Posted April 10, 2010 I would give it ago if there was something I wanted tried once in a street where I was working for a mk2 escort, fella wouldnt sell but he was sound and we talked for ages about old fords

andytechno Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 ive had people leave put notes through the letter box,ive pulled in on a farm in shrewsbury and asked the farmers wife about a white mk2,she said i wouldnt be able afford it,i also pulled over to an old shagger of a mk1 yesterday but i wasnt sure which house it was owned by.thats how i accomplished my mk2,i seen it parked on a garage and i pulled over, asked if he wanted to sell it and he said yes straight away.ive also seen i mk1 lotus cortina under a sheet on a another farm in nantwich so ime gonna pay him a visit when ime up that way again.
cortinasgoneforaburton Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Ive had plently of scrap dealers knocking on the door but they dont seem to like it when you weigh your own scrap cars in had plenty of nice comments about my cars even one bloke falling out of the pub as i was driving past saying he used to own one but we get that alot cos back then they wernt old skool fords.
escortmad79 Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 I've knocked on a couple, left a note on one & asked about another. The ones I've knocked on have been turned down, the one I left a note on never got back to me & the car was sold elsewhere & the one I did ask about was willing to sell his beloved 105E until I told him it would be modified! He wasn't so keen to sell then! Got my estate shortly afterwards though so all is good. Someone followed Michelle's Escort when it was being trailered down to the garage for final checks before MOT & asked to buy it.
Slammed Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 yes all the time cause i got a white mk1 2 door cortina on the drive we get people knocking and asking is it a lotus when it isnt, we get a regular knocking and asking every month, he said he was in all the clubs and i said name them , he said 'errr errr you know' my reply no i dont until next time im gonna wind him up more,im beginning to enjoy his company on my doorstep lol!
Jiffer Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 I have never knocked to ask about a car but there a few I would love to, suppose I'm a bit aware that I'm normally driving a white transit , off topic I do have a way of getting rid of people from my doorstep, when you great them shake there hand and place your other hand over theres, then give them your best smile, I guarantee they soon leave you alone, unless you are unlucky enough to get yourself a fruit
samurai Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 Just had a GSX bike pull up next to my car(which is covered on a quiet road which no one goes down) and he sat there i think waiting for me to come out i didnt bother myself to go out and ask
