I took my Mk2 off the road for a few upgrades (more 'How to' guides coming up) after using it all winter and I was dismayed at how all the hard work I had put into my DIY manifold was rusting away. High temperature paint is rubbish! It was worse than it looked in this photo:

So I did some research and found a company called Collins Chemical Blacking in Carshalton. They shot blasted in and dull Nickel Plated it for £60 all in, I will let you know how durable it is, but it looks the part in my opinion. See what you think:

Nice one Tom, I was working on it yesterday and today, have you taken yours out for a drive yet?

The rainbow effect will change further with some hard driving. I left it idling for 10mins and it was amazing to watch it switch through colours.

Looks good. I had mine nickle plated and the 1st time i started it, the manifold went White. It has now gone a bit more off coloured but the plating does stop it from rusting that's for sure.

How long has yours been plated ? weeks ,months ?? Longer???
