petrolhead Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 I took my Mk2 off the road for a few upgrades (more 'How to' guides coming up) after using it all winter and I was dismayed at how all the hard work I had put into my DIY manifold was rusting away. High temperature paint is rubbish! It was worse than it looked in this photo: So I did some research and found a company called Collins Chemical Blacking in Carshalton. They shot blasted in and dull Nickel Plated it for £60 all in, I will let you know how durable it is, but it looks the part in my opinion. See what you think:
Matt.C Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 looks really cool. deffinatly interested in how durable it is.

Tom Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 Looks the tits mate! were you working on it today? Finished mine up earlier too, very happy
petrolhead Posted April 18, 2010 Author Report Posted April 18, 2010 Nice one Tom, I was working on it yesterday and today, have you taken yours out for a drive yet? The rainbow effect will change further with some hard driving. I left it idling for 10mins and it was amazing to watch it switch through colours.
harris horse power Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Looks good. I had mine nickle plated and the 1st time i started it, the manifold went White. It has now gone a bit more off coloured but the plating does stop it from rusting that's for sure.
