If a car has been stolen in your area then I would contact you to let you know to keep an eye out for it  Exactly as explained in the clicky link above

The Vitesse was found in exactly this way and recovered and returned to it's rightful owner.

No need to give the info if you don't want to ....

Where is my data kept? Offline, encrypted\ password protected? Who would have access to the data?

It's purely voluntary. If you don't feel happy with giving your info, then you don't have to

It was just something that a stolen car was found by a member last week and they called one person who then called another person and then another, before the owner was finally contacted and was then able to retrieve their car..............All in the meantime the police were oblivious to the fact that it was stolen as they had written the wrong reg number down, according to the owner

The more people that communicate and are made aware about these stolen classic the more chance we have of seeing them returned to their rightful owners.

Jo I'll PM you my details ASAP. :D:thumbsup:

Unfortunatly not, the bloke who nicked it was living in it, we found it cos the locals complained about it being there

Turned out he was a ex-mechanic who fell on bad times, he even fixed the wipers and finished putting the interior for me .......... i'd just had it sprayed and was waiting for the time to fit it back up !!!

Like I said .. your data would only be seen by Admin in the Admin Staff Room. The room can only be seen by Admin .... it is at the bottom of the forum and you cannot see it as it is invisible to everyone except Admin. Also, I am not suggesting you give your full addres ... just a town and county.

Like Pip said, don't give the info if you are not happy about it

Even if it's voluntary. You're still required to register with the ICO, as you're processing (storing personal data). Seeing as it's what I do for a living, I'm more than happy to help. So you have a PM :D:thumbsup:

PM to Jo....

Hi Jo,

You beat me to it.

Just found time to work through the implications of OSFs data handling.

Essentially, as OSF is a not-for-profit organisation, and processing of personal information is limited to administration (i.e. collecting subs and selling merchandise) to run the site, then OSF is exempt from having to notify.

As I think you stated in your post, you will be ensuring that access to the information (people's phone numbers) is controlled and limited only to those who consent to give their number.

Cheers,

Jim

PS. Seeing as you have my mobile number, can you add me to the contact list
