w p e Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 very interesting, any idea how it ended up on an R plate? did"nt think you could make a car newer on the reg plate
payne'e Posted July 12, 2010 Author Report Posted July 12, 2010 i don't know exactly how it ended up as an r reg. escort 1300e at the bottom of the v5 special notes section it says rebuilt-assembled from parts some or all of which were not new. the first 4 letters of chassis are d2hr well i couldn't fit my 13" superlights as they wouldn't go over the disks on the front so i fitted the seats and the mrs gave it a good clean inside. here's the full spec Engine 2 ltr Vauxhall red top running on vauxhall fuel injection, fitted with a mini cooper supercharger, intercooler and water injection system. Modern core fitted to the rad, oil cooler and 2" stainless exhaust from yukspeed manifold back. Trans 5 speed type 9 box, new 1 piece prop shaft to a strengthened english axle with a 3.77 LSD. Brakes Rally design bias pedal box with 205 gti front calipers with vented discs. BX front calipers mounted at the rear with solid discs, servo (mounted in the boot), hydraulic handbrake. Suspension Front- 300/60 gas inserts fitted to standard struts with a RD compression strut kit, roller top mounts and modified 205 rear antiroll bar. Rear- Single leaf springs with billies, antitramp bars, lowering blocks and all rubber replaced with polly or rosejoints. Mk 2 column and switches fitted with a quick rack. a couple more pics
morcheen Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 might have been made from a new shell and registered in 77. would look better more standard on the outside i think.never seen that anti roll bar set-up before.
baz105e Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 Is that safe to drive!? it does look a little scetchy , the carefully crafted anti roll bar made from a rear tortion bar setup off if a 205 would go in the bin if it were mine looks like the tyres rub on it and the notches in it so it clears the steering arms seems to me like it hasnt been thought through very well, anything that may pose a risk to the operation of steering or suspension should be thought through a little better looks a nice clean shell tho
rallyesport04 Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 R reg could be as said before new un registered shell built up using new an 2nd hand parts
earroles73 Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 will look better when cleaned up, not keen on wheels but other than that nice mk1 mate...
RSlut Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Saw it advertised on pistonheads and thought it might have been worth a look.
payne'e Posted July 24, 2010 Author Report Posted July 24, 2010 got it mot'd today the guys at the garage loved it need to sort a few litlle bits like sump gasket leaking slightly, needs a bigger fan as it seemed to get a little hot and get the wheels balanced. goes like stink, just keeps pulling and the lsd provided a bit of fun left some nice 11's leaving the mot station so roll on the end of the month so i can get it taxed and have some more fun checked the wheel clearance on the front rollbar and there is a good inch gap on full lock so maybe it had bigger rims on
