down2earth Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Liking the 'annoying Scooby's owners' bit Toby further back up the thread Ref the R/S ratio - Yep exactly for are use R/S ratio and all that goes with it is not that important in reality as were not at that level its more trial and error to find out what works and is defo dependent on funds anyway so a compromise is needed and as you must know works out ok. I think its also worth remembering its not just a good engine that does the job everything else comes into to play, including the driver Ref piston speeds (kinematics - the study of motion) - amongst all thats online you might like to have a look at a reference I found interesting - search 'Rod Ratio Effects - Page 1' theres two pages to go over and on that site look at the section on 'Rod Ratio Dynamics' (again two pages) under Engine Tech Articles on the Home page it may be of interest to you or others to explain things if it helps ! Ref the massive Xflow - This has been built and run with an 88mm crank not that long ago to my knowledge with impressive results by a company I first used way back in the late 1980's I think it was when I took one of my cars there on the rolling road some 20 odd years ago now and I still have the car that went there alas the rolling road is not so I believe ...Some of you will have used there services over the years like myself, the company is very experienced on the ford stuff and do supply and engineer parts for Ford cars amongst others that they do so I suggest everyone who's interested search online to go to the site all the information is there.
