ISS = international space station!!!! would you believe the multi million dollar satellite is visible to the naked eye tonight's pass (if not obscured by cloud) should also be visible in inner city areas, people were seeing it in London last night

Fiesta Steve Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I just saw something, it could have been a plane though!! I lasted for a few minutes before dissapering, was very bright !!

Mr Sam Posted August 31, 2010 Author Report Posted August 31, 2010 yup sounds like you all saw it, was REALLY bright tonight and already heard other reports something was in-front of it, most probably another satellite
Trevmk3 Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 just been out a while back to take it in, Sam you are awesome may have to go into the wild tomorrow for some twilight pics and ISS trail pics
Fiesta Steve Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 yup sounds like you all saw it, was REALLY bright tonight and already heard other reports something was in-front of it, most probably another satellite I saw something else too, but dismissed that as another plane, lol !! Thank you Sam, because of you I have seen a real life space ship
Mr Sam Posted August 31, 2010 Author Report Posted August 31, 2010 i can confirm the object infront of it was a Russian cargo thing that had just un-docked from the space station in future it moves from the West to the East next pass TODAY @ 23:07 will be dimmer and only visable for 25secs
Trevmk3 Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 found a decent sighting schedule earlier for it but cant find it now, told you what times, angle duration ect to expect it to your nearest city
Mr Sam Posted August 31, 2010 Author Report Posted August 31, 2010 object moving diagonally in this pic, the object moving horizontally is a plane, note the orange glow that is light pollution from leicester also note the ISS is brighter than a plane, does not flash or make noise, travels quicker too
andy a Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 If I stand out the back of my place tomorrow night with me air rifle what angle of dangle do I need to bring it down and whats the softest part of it so I know what to aim at? Also what does it weigh, I've got a Mundano to weigh in tomorrow but if it'll pull it I'll wait til Friday and take em both in together...
Mr Sam Posted September 1, 2010 Author Report Posted September 1, 2010 haha supposedly with the panels open its the size of a football pitch, i bet theres some real expensive metals in it though
Fishtailparka Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 I have seen it lots of times and still think you should be able to hear it. ( I do know why it doesn't make a noise)
Mr Sam Posted September 1, 2010 Author Report Posted September 1, 2010 there are 2 passes tonight which should both be bright, look to where the sun has set 20:23 and 21:59
