had the idea of a 2.0 duratec instead of a zetec impalnted in my brain today from a guy called.

out of the box these seem to offer good power even on standard induction, but I dont want standard induction and have had a figure of £1200 for and ecu alone so add throttle boddies etc and I'm pushing big bucks and that just about wipes out my budget after buying and engine.

I doubt very much these are an easy conversion and I am concerned with my limited knowledge (and talent) I could either end up with a half done car that ends up with a for sale sign on it or farming it out to a pro and paying the earth.

all I want is a bit more power, (at the min I am running a xflow pushing about 120) and to be able to say "Thats my OSF and I did that" but do you think with a duratec I am biting off more then I can chew.

I have got to make my mind up soon as its sending me dolally :?

i dunno jiff if had that sort of budget it'd take a serious flurry of common sense to stop me buying a YB, yeah i know there'd be various install costs on top but a stage one YB is on par with (in bhp terms) a mega money duratec,

if budget is a real issue i'm still a firm supporter of a zetec install though for a "bang for buck" conversion they take some beating, 200bhp isn't unheard of with some head work(st170) and cams

I think a warmed up 2.1/2.2 pinto is the answer for you jiffer. It is a simple bit of kit. Once it is in you then have the optional upgrade of NA cossie or turbo cossie later as your knowledge and finances improve.

at the end of the day Lenny I just need to make my mind up, pick an engine and get the FOOK on with it

if weather looks decent this weekend i could meet you some where halfway between us- somewhere on the A1? and try to convince you that zetec is the answer :ykt::mrgreen:

I'm thinking of going with a 2.0 duratec fit in my mk1 escort. It's got a 2.2 pinto in at the moment but I'm after something more reliable and refined for an every day driver. Getting over 200 bhp is easy with throttle bodies and maybe some cams. There are various engines on eBay etc for around £500, throttle body kits with ecu for £1200. YB's are fine but I think a more expensive conversion.
