More computer help please!!!

Yes, my troublesome machine is playin up again Im on the laptop at the mo

 

 

So the problem: was on the computer last night and, it flashed up a blue screen with lots of writing on it, but before i could read it, the computer shut down

 

Hit the on button, and to start with the computer started to boot up, but the screen wouldnt come on. Then hit restart and it came on and went throught the menus and got the the XP loading screen and it froze. Restarted again, and did the same and just froze before i could get onto my desktop

 

 

Came back to it this afternoon, as i thought it may have overheated. But nope, this time the screen wouldnt turn on at all, and was the same as before and wouldnt boot up

 

 

 

 

 

Any ideas peeps before we send it to our computer man

Did you turn the computer off before coming off the net watching porn? If so i bet it said press any key and all will be restored

recovery disks mate, they'll save you a fortune

oh joys of BSOD...have you tried safe mode yet?...also and what point does it crash...when the xp loading icon or directly after boot up....my first suspect atm from what you have described would be graphics card problem....take it out give a clean and put back in....i say that as when you see the xp logo that is when the graphics drivers are loaded for windows

My laptop "throws a spaz" like that every now and again it just starts itself up again though been doing it for about 18 months

I have an iPod for that stuff JOKING! Just incase my dad sees

 

 

And yeah Duncan, was just looking at the graphics card problems on google and stuff. Will take the side of the tower tommorow and give everything a good dusting and see how we go from there

oh and was gunna try safe mode this afternoon but I can't even get past the monitor to show the boot up screen now. So I'm going with graphics card as the screen is still working

the other thing you can try it removing the memory/re-seating it

check all the capacitors on the motherboard / graphics card for any sign of the tops bulging up, if any of them are you know youve got a problem at a hardware level.

 

if not boot up off an XP cd, hit "r" to enter the recovery console, then type

 

fixboot

 

fixmbr

 

and finally

 

chkdsk /r

 

should solve any bootup issues you have, see this kinda things on a daily basis!

Will see if i can borrow a recovery CD off my computer m8

 

 

But so far, i have stripped it all out, gave it a dust, still doesnt work. Next test will be try a new monitor cable

 

Cus so far its my monitor that doesnt get any signal from the computer. The monitors worked once, and now not again

 

 

 

So will do monitor lead, then ask for the CD off my m8

very doubt full its the cable bud.....can you get borrow a graphics card to see if your card has gone.....if you are not getting any screen stuff then the cd wont be no good at this present time

I'l ask my m8 see if he's got a graphics card i can borrow, if not il have a look on ebay for any cheap one i can use for now

heres a question...

 

does it still beep at all when you first turn it on?

yes. Computer still seems to boot up, but the computer doesn't give any signal to the screen so it doesn't switch itself on

what kinda of beep you getting?? normal or is it longer than usual etc etc....

 

could just be that your screens died??

All sorted now

 

Took it to my computer geek m8 Grpahics card had gone up it, swapped for a bigger, better, working one. So All problems resoulved, til next time
