Savvi Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Wondered if anyone has had dealings with these ? My mate is looking to buy a camper conversion for his missus as she does dog training (not dogging ) weekends and stays away sometimes also for the 2 of them + daughter to go away in. He's looking for a proper conversion with the sink, kitchen etc. so if anyone knows a dealers or has a one for sale or just some more info that may be helpful please let me know !!! Ideally he wants 2000 or newer.
one-day Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 just out side newquay airport there is a dealerdown there had loads of them i'll see if i can find a road name as i was on holiday at the time..
one-day Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 here you go westwaysfillingstation.co.uk ok thats the petrol station ware they are but there is no mention of the said bongo's on website so perhaps ring them...
PlopPlop Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 I had one 3 years ago and they are brilliant, only problem is they're not very economical, most are 4WD auto but I had a rare 2WD manual which was obviously better on diesel but stiil a little heavy, aside from that it was a right piece of kit, some are even badged as Ford as well
Savvi Posted October 10, 2010 Author Report Posted October 10, 2010 Thanks for the replys so far, he has another car, but did think about selling it, even in that she does little miles, she will want a Auto as that what she drives now, what type of mpg will he expect ? Hoping for some where a little closer to Oxford but he knows he will need to travel for something decent.
PlopPlop Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Just asked my mate who had a 4WD auto, he said about 20mpg but thats a guess as it was a while back, also it was a 95, a 2000 plate should be better
Savvi Posted October 10, 2010 Author Report Posted October 10, 2010 That don't sound too good !!! I said to get a Vw T4 or similar but she said they are too big
Kelvfoozinda Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Theres a bongo dealer near me in southampton.... http://www.budgetbongos.com/ I think they come straight across on the boat from japan and end up in this place, prices seemed ok when I drove past the other day!

Not sure what he wants to spend, he's buying it for her Xmas present although he thinks it will be worth it, he wants to get a Honda Cbr Track bike for himself Yes they seem to be all imports, some of them are FORD BADGED though
PlopPlop Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 are they all imports Not sure but I think the Mazda badged one 's are and the european ones were badged ford

Kelvfoozinda Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 One of the auctions in southampton is on the same road as that bongo garage, seen a few ford ones about. Bongo friendeee all the way!
Savvi Posted October 10, 2010 Author Report Posted October 10, 2010 He wants the proper conversion not sure if they come over with that, he doesn't want to convert it himself as that's what i would do !!!
accord83 Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Try here, the owners club http://www.bongofury.co.uk/ I used to get 26mpg out of a 1995 2wd auto, a version of the Ford Ranger engine, excellent bits of kit and reliable if cooling system kept on top of, but knackered cyl heads if run dry. A lot of 2wd come with a slippy diffs. I sold mine 3yrs ago and still regret it. Can get probs with front diff failure on 4wd as run different size tyre front to back (doesn't matter on a 2wd so I ran all same size no probs)r
