any Ford Puma owners?

I may have to sell my Volvo V40 T4 in the near future as the insurance is due for renewal in 2 months and being 22years old with a 200bhp turbo car, my insurance is coming up at £900 for the year which I simply dont have the money for.

 

So Ive had a look round and quite fancy a Ford Puma Millennium.

 

Anyone had any experience with a Puma?

Bets standard hhandling car ive owned and the 1.7 is a rocket

bought my wife one an as above, they handle like sh*t to a blanket and 1.7 zetec was nippy.. but they have got theyre bad points, weird driving position? im 6 foot 5 and felt crouched over in it.. the door rubbers perish/split and the footwells on both sides fill up with water if heavy rain.. i could never get the carpet dryed out on ours.. and also typical ford body work, rust round fuel filler neck, rusty rear arches,rusty front panel.. but find a good one an youre onto a winner mate..

go for the millenium or thunder, i think the thunder ones were the last ones made so should be a 2002 car.

 

rust is the problem, under the door seals rear arches, but find a good one and you will be happy with it.

 

you can get a 1.6 16v or 1.7 vvt, both are good but the 1.7 is 20bhp+ more than the 1.6.

they're good as long as ur not too tall or u bang ur head on the roof when nailing round corners.

They fooking fly for what they are. The 1700 is best, i'm sure they also did a 1400.

I had a mk5 rs2000 years ago when the pumas first came out and the brand new, delivery miles on trade plates pdi road test was a scream it would have given the rs a run for its money

I have got a 51 plate Thunder 1.7 , cracking little car , never had any problems with water getting in it , in fact had no problems at all in 3 years and as said earlier they are fantastic handling cars

A Fiesta does the same job, they rust as well too

thats the main problem with Ford.

 

They never ever did fix their corrosion problems soeven modern Foci are going rusty and Pumas still get rotten arches

bit of a hairdressers hotrod, my mate had to get one cos his lass wouldnt drive anything bigger and he hated it. Any bloke in a puma or tigra would get the piss taken out of them round here.

Mate i've never paid any attention to them before the car limits day we did the other week. Matt's (petrolhead) sister brought hers along and it really surprised me how well those things handle! and on ditch finder remoulds too!

 

I say get one mate, they may not be the best looking car but if they handle like that you cant go wrong

Im still a bit undecided cos I do love my Volvo for its practicality and its certainly no slow coach....but its costing me a fortune to insure and Im putting £65 of V power in it every 10 days.

you could also look a the fiesta zetec s, i think they have the same chassis as a puma and the interior is the same, but only come with a 1.6.

 

 

i own on of these myslef, and bought another one today to strip for parts,

 

the only problem really is they a kinda a boy racer car, and most people mod them and you get every teenager in the corsa or saxo wanting to race you etc.
