DeuceCoupe Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 I braked suddenly in the capri and window wipers stopped working. So I did push them down as they were in my way. If I had left them it would have just been the wiring I think. Sorted the wiring out it makes a noise now but they don't move so have I broken them or do you think they are fixable Need to get them sorted as wont be going to the ace if its rainning
Guest lagerlout Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 sounds like the arms jumped off the motor easy enough to fix.
capriclive Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 ^^^^what he said^^^ youll probably find that the main arm from the motor has popped off. its just a case of popping it back on. its a ball joint type, and just presses back on. i had this trouble a while back.
Pipster007 Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 It happened to me some time ago. The nut that holds the arm onto the motor fell off. It was more hassle to find the retaining nut, than it was to refit it
DeuceCoupe Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 just one question how do I get to it from the dashboard?
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 You have to take the 2 bottom dashboard panels off, and then take the speedo surrround out. Once you have done that, you can then take the speedo assembly out. Be warned though, to dissconnect the speedo cable is a right f**king fiddly job. Once you have the speedo assembly out, the wiper motor and linkage should now be visible, what a nice job, brings back memories of doing my heater motor
Slik 50 Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Be warned though, to dissconnect the speedo cable is a right f**king fiddly job. Its a little more messing around but can you not disconect the speedo cable from the box and pull the cable through the dash to give you that little more clearence to undo it at the clock end
DeuceCoupe Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 in other words its going to be a f*cking nightmare thank you for your help guys much appriciated
