Andrade Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Gents can you plug off the water pipes that go to the heater matrix or have you got to loop them out as I want to run a electric heater ???? engine? i plug off mine directly at the waterpump outlet on every engine i had so far (its not cold in malta, no heater required)
alec hafele Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Get a length of heater hose or use the existing if long enough and simply connect outlet to inlet. I did this several times to cars with knackred heater matrixs and on a Lada Nive in Syria when no other attempt to turn off the heater in 48C worked!
frenchy Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 But do you have to do can I not just plug the connections off ????
Admin Vista Posted November 11, 2010 Admin Report Posted November 11, 2010 But do you have to do can I not just plug the connections off ???? You can, but that will cause dead spots and unusual flow patterns within the system in the areas of the take off and return. These could cause erosion of the material in the surrounding area over time. I'd put a hose loop in as others have suggested.
JP. Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I agree also, make a loop. Heater matrix is most of the times looped in the thermostat by-pass system.
