Been thinking, well this was a while back, but all the same, on my dads 1300L he had a few months back, the front wings were bolted on

What do you think good idea??

We've thought of a couple of ideas why this could be good, 1) easy to take off (if god forbid) we get a dent in either of them. 2) Easier to adjust to get a perfect fit

Anyone got downsides, and some more upsides

Bolt on all the way mate !! Have done it on my last 2 mk2 escorts and when a dizzy doris backed into my o/s front wing it was a days easy job to do ( Includeing painting it !!) . I use dome headed stainless nuts, bolts and washers and a tip for sealing them on the drip rails, use non seting window sealer for caravens !! As for the " It doesnt look orignal " bit, sod em !! You dont see them with the bonnet shut !!!

The ones on my van are bolt on but I wouldn't consider it for the RS for a second and it's not just because of the purists commenting negatively on it. If you ever came to sell your car, plenty of purists will be interested and ALL will use it as a reason to beat you down on price.

there's nothing wrong with it from a safety point of view, but its entirely up to u whether u do it on the RS,my fiesta wings are bolt on and the capri's gonna be the same.

If a pirson came to buy my car and started to beat me down on price because the wings were bolted on he would be shown the gate in double quick time !!!! For genuine buffty RS cars you have got a point but for run of the mill mk1's and mk2's it's bolt on all the way, so much easyer to get tham off if you need to get under the wing for any repair work or to replace a wing. How ever careful you are takeing the wings off with spot weld drills it never goes to plan and you end up buggering the wing rail .

I agree, which is why my mk 2 van has gone bolt on but if the OP is referring to his RS I think he should stick with welded on.
