Andrade Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 I've been told theres some mercedes hinges with a complex movement. First they push the bonnet up, then forwards, then open. Any ideas what these are off? Am considering fitting them to the estate (yes i'm still dreaming about this lol)
bomber1 Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 sounds like a bmw forward opening bonnet to me
Andrade Posted December 6, 2010 Author Report Posted December 6, 2010 sounds like a bmw forward opening bonnet to me do they work in reverse? My older brother would like to get the hood of the anglia open the other way, like all other osf do. I'm trying my luck on here maybe someone came across these kind of hinges, the only lead i got so far is that a few mercedes models open that way
bortaf Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Aussie ford hinges open the bonnet wider if that's what your after, or does it need to pop forward as well ?
Andrade Posted December 7, 2010 Author Report Posted December 7, 2010 Aussie ford hinges open the bonnet wider if that's what your after, or does it need to pop forward as well ? it needs to move a bit forward since Anglia bonnets go up next to the windshield:
Andrade Posted December 21, 2010 Author Report Posted December 21, 2010 Still going on about this! Came across these, looks like they pull the trunk away from the windscreen, but not sure that they push it up enough for what i need. Andrade Posted December 21, 2010 Author Report Posted December 21, 2010 cheers mate will try to get my brother to simulate these on the pc
Andrade Posted December 23, 2010 Author Report Posted December 23, 2010 Bro was simulating the movement of the hinges on pc and so far we did not find one that did the movement we require. We did a brainstorming session and came up with what we think is a very simple solution as below. Will try to mock something up along these lines for proof of concept. If it will be worth pursuing voilà Anglia with bonnet opening the other side ~~ comments?
