baxterbaxter Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Hi all, not exactly old skool related, but i know the rally boys go mad for p100 axle casings, after selling one last year, and some people have told me that some transit axles are the same, i ony ask as i have an R reg transit 90 ready for the scrap, and wondered if its worth taking the axle off before, as if it is the same as the p100 axles, its worth more than the scrap of the van. thanks guys.
bortaf Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 the 5ierra P100 uses a Mk3 transit SWB axle the casings are rather heavy TBH it's more the low diff ratiios they like i think
FredTransit Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 I didn't know that! Mind I am not as close up and personal with the single wheel as I am with the twin wheel.
mk3cokebottle Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 as bortaf said mate its the diff thats worth money not the whole axle and i dont think that the smiley front transit is the same but dont hold me to that do a bit of research on a couple of transit sites and find out
bortaf Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 smiley axles are wider i know that but TBH i've not broken a SWB smiley yet
zetecmk2 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 smiley axles are wider i know that but TBH i've not broken a SWB smiley yet keep putting them on the road...eh?
bortaf Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 smiley axles are wider i know that but TBH i've not broken a SWB smiley yet keep putting them on the road...eh? more like run em straight in they tend to rot more around the front susspension mounts than Mk3's for some reason so i usually fill em up and run em in not so much call for the later Dis ? i take the odd part off like alt mounts and alts then drive em on the bridge before they blow up
FredTransit Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Not much call for the later DIs? But you can run em on veg!!
bortaf Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 i know but i only use the non banana personly all that EGR crap and mainly lucas pumps puts me off, i did start removing em but after em sitting in me yard for years i weighed em in, same with the MT75s. had loads for like ever an no-one ever wants em or turns up when they say they will so i stick to rarer stuff people want and actually pay/turn up for
FredTransit Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 we have banana engines with no EGR
mk3cokebottle Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 smiley axles are wider i know that but TBH i've not broken a SWB smiley yet keep putting them on the road...eh? more like run em straight in they tend to rot more around the front susspension mounts than Mk3's for some reason so i usually fill em up and run em in not so much call for the later Dis ? i take the odd part off like alt mounts and alts then drive em on the bridge before they blow up ive got £80 for every di that you have got that i can hear running in the van before you run it in first i will even come n take em out

bortaf Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 mate takes about 15 mins 4 bolts hiab disc cutter lever bar and away you go I like you style sir
FredTransit Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 sod it if you are selling em for £80 I will have one!
bortaf Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Now you bloody say! i've stuck every van i've broken on the transit forum and all i ever got was sodded about and no shows i even tried giving away some MT75's and after 6 months a sledge hammerd em into ally pieces and weighed em in
FredTransit Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 I don't really look on the for sale section on the FTF, you should have put them on mine, would make a good donor for a Mk1 or Mk2.
