atomic punk Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 ive had a look about and the how to guide is a little unclear, but could anyone piont me in the right direction of anyone that has used efi fuel injection on a zetec engine coversion and what car i should be pulling the efi, ecu wiring (aka the job lot) out of, many thanks if u can help I assumes you mean standard Ford Efi? I'm about to do this and tbh its a bit of a mare to get your head around unless you are happy with wiring. I'm going to be using the engine loom from a 1996 Escort but thats only because it came with my engine. If you're going for a 2.0 Zetec, the best loom to go for is a pre 1994/5 2.0 mondeo i.e EEC IV, no PATS/external PATS (which can be bypassed) and external EDIS (i.e ignition controlled seperately from fuel). From memory the ECU needed is coded 'DEEP' but these are getting rare now. If you go post 95 you need the transceiver, ECU and red key from the same vehicle or it will never work. I would avoid EECV as too complex, but I don't know when they came in. Best thing to do is get the whole donor car complete and pull the engine, ecu and all the looms out - best to have too much than have too little. HTH
Savvi Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 I have a 1995 Escort 1600 Zetec which i intended to use the manifold and injection loom etc. Since i bought that i was offered a 1800 Fiesta that had been converted to Zetec so ripped it all out complete to use instead !!!! I marked all the wires and it had no immbillser so should be ok As said the early cars had easier wiring to sort out. There are a lot of post's on here about it as well as some i've looked at on other forums such as Turbosport, Alcoholics Anonymous etc
supersport Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 pats can be by-passed if you know how, also you can use the later loom and rewire the ecu plug to use an earlier ecu.
Russboy Posted January 23, 2011 Author Report Posted January 23, 2011 the car that will be giving up its engine and loom etc is a p reg mondeo with a silvertop 130 bhp engine. its 1st of the mk2's i this makes any odd's i have the whole car and is still being driven about if this helps guys with what loom i have?
atomic punk Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 the car that will be giving up its engine and loom etc is a p reg Mundano with a silvertop 130 bhp engine.its 1st of the mk2's i this makes any odd's i have the whole car and is still being driven about if this helps guys with what loom i have? P reg will have a PATS ecu (key with the little red chip in) and may also have an alarm, will be internal EDIS I think If you keep the key and transceiver and the associated wiring it should work OK. Is it an 1800 or 2000? Do you know what the ECU code is?
