johnny_h Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Good morning. I have a question for the experts...the grey tape the engine bay loom on mk1 escorts is wrapped in. Is it a special kind of tape or can you just use normal insulation tape. Does anyone know where I can buy the grey stuff? Thanks.
DEP Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 I dont think its any different to normal inulating tape mate I would of thought the AVO club would probably sell it
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 18, 2007 Admin Report Posted January 18, 2007 Can't you just get it from your local motor factors or Halfrauds?
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 You will probably find Johnny that this tape isn't adhesive. Loom tape itself is usually non sticky which makes it easier to wrap. There is nothing wrong with doing it with insulating tape, but it is quite an art because it want's to stick to everything. Try eBay mate, there was a seller on there that was selling loads of the grey stuff
tim Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 there a seller on ebay who sell the correct loom tape for mk1 and mk2s
daytona Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 You will probably find Johnny that this tape isn't adhesive. You're quite right Jimbob, the grey stuff isn't adhesive and has more give in it so it's easier wrap. AVO club or ebay would be you're best bets.

If it's not sticky erm, how do you get it to stick to the wires..
