Mechanical fuel pump

Anybody use one of these for twin carbs, or do you really need an electric fuel pump.

I've ran a x-flow with 45's on a mechanical pump.

 

It was ok.

twin 40s on mechanical pump u need a pressure regulater on the elecy pumps to stop the being pushed through the carb on tick over

i ran a standard mechanical pump on my old 185 bhp Harris pinto with no problems . You just need a fuel pressure reg fitted between the pump and the carbs set at 2psi or else fuel will drip out of the trumpets on idle as the pressure will be too high

Just make sure the car is set up properly on the rollers and the a/f ratio checked over the entire rev range.

ive been running mechanical pump on a 2.1 with 45's for ages with no problems at all, ive got no pressure regulator. and have no fuel dripping from the trumpets at all
