  1. Sorry its a bit (very) late.....but I can also confirm that the Harrington quarter bumpers are excellent! Mine have been on a couple of years. Pics - (with and without Cibies).
  2. Love your Mk1 estate mate, but then I would..... check mine out, quite a few similarities!! Same interior, same colour, towbars. Lowered, fat steels, Even the number plates share quite a few characters!! But Ive "woodied" mine now so looks a bit different - not that there was much chance of our two estates bumping into each other!!
  3. Thanks! 8 mpg was a bit of a trial out of its 550bhp Hauser big block tho! Love your Capri, you have the 70s thing spot-on!
  4. Looks a lot like Ford Forest Green.
  5. They are good tyres, I had a set on my 440 Satellite and they smoked great!
  6. Im really gutted to hear that Mark, its a legendary car and youve put an immense amount of work into it. I will keep my fingers crossed that someone somehere sees or hears somethig and that the police try and do the job that they are paid for.
  7. Thanks, glad you guys like it. Ta mate, I wish it was straight and shiny as yours - thats what my imperial maroon wants to look like!
  8. Never seen a 1600E in Lagoon blue before! Very nice!
  9. Yes they are 100% legal as long as they are done to good standard - the same as any other repair or modification done on a car. VOSA confirmed this when asked the question - so it is now official - BANDIES ARE LEGAL!!! Click on the link below to get the full sp! http://retrorides.proboards86.com/index ... read=38105
  10. How on earth has ebay killed the old school Ford scene???!!! (Actually, I wasnt aware that it was dead - in fact its the biggest its ever been!). Anything that gets old, therefore scarce and is wanted by people gets more expensive. Do you think then, that if ebay never existed all "our" cars and parts would be cheap and the cars worth peanuts? Its not ebay that sets the price that things sell for on the site - its an auction - people bid and pay what they want to! No one is forced to bid and buy stuff that they think has got more expensive than they would like. There are no rules or a price list for what these old cars and parts are worth - they are simply worth what someone wants to pay on the open market and ebay is the most open market of all. Last time I looked, autojumples and swapmeets are still going on,so people are still free to "get off their arses" and search for the parts (while using lots of petrol which boosts the governments coffers anyway).
  11. Yes I agree the scammers and non-payers etc. can mess things up but to be honest it would be a tall order for ebay to effectively police the site with the millions of users - but yes they could and should do better. As regards the tax issue, its my understanding the changes have been brought about by European legislation designed to curb money laundering - ebay is the perfect enviroment for this. However the regular "car-booters" like most of us wont be affected, thats why they are asking members status. As for business users, theyve enjoyed the tax-free loophole for a few years now, so now they may have to pay tax like everyone else does in every other business!
  12. Fashionable though it is at the moment to slag off ebay - would any of you really like to go back to the old days and ways getting parts for our cars? For those members too young to remember what that involved.... Going to autojumbles and hoping that the part you wanted might be there - and they are only on during the summer, mostly you want the parts in the winter when youre working on the car. Ads in the back of related mags - the stuff is 90% of the time sold long before the issue hits the printers. Ebay means that you can buy or sell ANY part from or to ANY where in the world at the touch of a button without leaving your chair at ANY time of day or night and have it delivered to your door. I, for one think thats worth paying for - youd have to pay for a lot of petrol driving around to all those autojumbles. Nor can I think of any other way as a seller that you can advertise an item to a worldwide audience of potentially millions for such a low price (or any price come to that!) Sure ebay charge fees - they are a business after all - and probably not perfect, but who is? Im happy paying the fees as I more than make up for it by selling loads of stuff (car and non car related) that I either wouldnt be able to sell anywhere else or it would cost me a lot more to do so. And sure there are rip-off artists operating on ebay - they are everywhere where there is money involved. You just have to keep your wits about you as in all other dealings with people. Ive been playing with old cars (not just Fords) for 30 years and WOULD NOT want to go back to the pre-ebay days of sometimes waiting for months, or even years for a paricular part to turn up! As for the old chestnut "Ebay has driven up prices" its not ebay that has driven them up - its the old case of supply and demand. People will bid what they want to pay, no one is forcing them! This is an expensive hobby and sometimes we just dont have enough money to spare for a part we really want - but because someone else does that doesnt make it ebays fault. Lets keep a perspective guys! Rant over!
  13. The Alan Mann replica started out as a 1200 Deluxe with bench and column change. However it is a totally immaculate never welded shell with the chassis number still on the strut top mounting and has been built pretty much "no-expense-spared" and has lots of great parts. As to whether its worth the final price.....well it obviously IS....to the person who bid that for it! Value on all these old cars is totally subjective - they are worth precisely what someone is willing to pay for them at that particular time, no more and no less. There is no "book price".
  14. Pre cross manifold £195 + VAT X/flow manifold £235 + VAT Mk1 System £235 + VAT.
  15. Ditto re: madhorse! I travelled from London to buy a Mk1 Cortina GT that he described as a good solid car that I could drive back to London with no worries. When I got there it was rotten, engine chucking out blue smoke, handbrake cable dragging on the ground, 3 bald tyres and one crossply! I wouldnt have driven it to the end of the road. Told him where he could stick it. £100 train fares down the drain. Also my mate was selling his 100% genuine Lemans green Mk1 Mex. "Madhorse Mark "came down from Wales to Essex with a trailor and tried to buy it for next to nothing as he claimed it wasnt a genuine Mexico. Needless to say my mate told him where to go so on that occasion it was him who wasted his time and money. Back on topic tho! Good luck with the Escort, colour could look quite good, especially with the silver roof (or gold?) as already mentioned.
  16. Just had new 105speed stainless manifold and 2" stainless single box system fitted. Much more responsive and sounds lovely. Very impressive bit of kit. Tucks up nice and tight to the floorpan, so great for my low suspension.
  17. Looks a really nice car! Good work! Nice to see another Mk1 restored.
  18. This is Mk1 perfection! Super quick, aggressive but classic looks and great colour. Ive drooled over this car many times at the Pod on the rare occasions its standing still and not hooning down the strip!
  19. That is pure, unadulterated sex. If I had a spare 100k........

Please, Please, no f**t**ll on here, hate it with a passion as its a load of Poxhall Here here! Well said that man!!! The "beautiful game" !!! Whats so beautiful about watching an overpaid bunch of drama queens spitting on the ground every 30 seconds and kicking an inflated sheeps stomach around a patch of mud?
