I know alot of you good people like modding your motors and righly so, there are some real stunners out there...!!! However, I am probably in the majority as I favour the 'original' look, the straight out of the factory look if you will...?! Now I'm keen to see any pictures you have of Old Skool Fords in their original state whether restored to factory standard or just, ermm, original...!!! Here is my authentically original OSF and it's a beast...

Now, let's see yours...

I'd say deffo the minority ;)

Do love the Granny standard though :thumbsup:

I think all The old Fords look pukka whatever way they are, but I'm 100% certain I wouldn't want to drive round in an Escort on 12 inch rims with 145 crossplys AND drum brakes :mrgreen:

Yay, I agree with that!

I don't mind some subtle exterior modifications, and I don't mind altering trim to make a car look like a different trim level (e.g. I quite like the black window trim of the Mk2 Sports grannys, rather than the chrome trim on the Ghias.)

Inside & oily bits are a different matter though.... IMHO the Ford oily bits are all getting a bit long in the tooth now, and whilst a 2.8i makes a lovely noise, it IS thirsty and prone to breaking. Which is why I intend to drop a Lexus 4.0 v8 into mine, with a Supra (probably) manual gearbox :)

Then there's things like the aircon (which uses that banned gas that's nearly impossible to get hold of & hideously expensive if you do find a source) - once that goes, it's gone. Sticky windows, dodgy mirrors.... hopefully, if I can make the lexus bits fit, all of those problems will disappear.

I'm also thinking of making a "glass cockpit" (TFT screen instruments, controls & radio), but fitting as much as possible of it into the existing binnacles; so inside it'll look similar at first glance, but radically different (and hopefully very very cool) close up...

BIG dreamy plans... but, there you go. Got to do a ground-up restore on the shell first, as there's plenty of grot to be getting on with, and I want this one to last at least another 30 years...

BTW, some of you may recognise the car as the estate that Dazza was selling. So, you'll be glad to know, no banger track for this one!

Hasent changed much, just got a little rougher around the edges........after the years it was used for tarmac rally', thats the reason the guy before the guy we got it from sold it, because he didnt wanna wreck it as he knew it was worth something

But yeah, its standard looking, got all the right bits in all the right places......apart from a few bits that were taken off it, and we presume were used on a RS2k replica the guy we got it from was building.....along with the twin 45's :roll: But that was 5 years ago now, so im not moaning, they will all be replaced in the next few months.:mrgreen:

Hope that hot water tank isn't part of the conversion

Hmm, now there's an idea....! It'd cure any overheating problems; but should I mount it in the front (sticking out of the bonnet - might impede the forward view), or in the back where it'll reduce load space.

Decisions decisions....
