I may well be at my Grans house in Alston the weekend of this run, so might tag along from there - mind, I may come from the cousins house in Penrith.

I love these roads - I learnt to drive on them :-) I could show you the corner I destroyed my first escort on! (mk 1 1300 GT, end over end roll - the doors were fine. I was unwell for a while!) - Its on the whitfield side, and there are normally flowers there or there abouts (corner tightens up, bit scary really)

It would be good if you could make it

Arrangement are now finalised:-

08:30 - 09:00 Aliweld leaving at 09:10

09:30 ish Tescos car park Hexham leave at 09:50 for Hartside Cafe

The option to head to Melmerby is always there if people want to tackle some slightly more testing bends :ykt:

Might be doing this after all....we shall see!

Great news but how so?

Long story but basically my little sister (15) was planning on doing the autotest which is on 17th July in the Escort, but she isn't sure if she wants to now. So the auld boy said if she doesn't he is coming on the ride out, so I said I'd come too as I already have the U21 Championship in the bag!

Just wondering,

Father and I will obviously be meeting you all at Hartside Cafe....BUT, where are you all heading to after Hartside???

Ah brilliant!

No, was just making sure we weren't going to turn up at Hartside and then you lot bugger off back to the North East

Our ears would be bleeding if we went that far

TBH Dan I'm not sure how long it will take us to get to Hartside, if we have plenty of time I guess there's no reason why we shouldn't ride on beyond Melmerby maybe to Penrith or the Lakes if others fancy it

Weather report says sunshine and showers and better than today

Whatever we are dealt it will be nice to see all you regulars and just as good to meet some new OSF'ers too

Set off from Maryport (Cumbria) this morning at 9:20am and it was p!ssing down (had been all night). Got to the foot of Hartside and the fog had well and truly rolled in, and the road was very greasy!

Had a decent run up with a few bits of sideways action on the way (see video below). Got to the top about 5 minutes before the North East Boys turned up.

The view from the top was slightly different to that I saw when I was up three weeks ago!

Three weeks ago:

Today:

After 5 minutes or so, a bunch of North East Yobbos turned up to keep us company, 14 in total :D

Once we had all grabbed a bite to eat at Hartside Top Cafe it was decided that we would make the trip down Hartside and onwards to Kirkstone Pass, via Penrith Petrol Station.

For some bizzare reason, it was left to dad and I to lead the way up Kirkstone, thankfully we didn't get lost  thankfully the weather began to improve and I am sure I spotted the sun on a couple of occasions!

All in all my dad and I have had a brilliant day, and as usual met some great people. Thanks a lot for organising it and see you all soon

shame about the weather but apart from that it was a great day nice to meet everyone it was worth a day in the rain just to hear that RS200 as he overtook us

Thank you all for coming along today and making it a brilliant ride out, it was great to meet up with old and new faces alike some of whom travelled a long way to be with us today

I'm please to say the weather did not spoil the enjoyment of the drive for me one bit however it did sort of spoil the chat a little as we tried to avoid getting too wet :ykt:

I have to say a personal thanks to Toby for allowing me the use of his stunning MK2 RS2000, it was a real treat for me to be able to drive an OSF whilst mine is in build, I appreciate it very much :D

Looking forward to the next one before the tax runs our, Sunday the 4th of September is a date being murmured at the moment, destination up for discussion, maybe weighted to more crack and less milage for this one, I invite your thoughts :?:
