Same as the stripe for me. One of my pet hates (along with not painting behind the front grille black) is a petrol cap that stands out like a sore thumb in the middle of a stripe because its not the same colour.

I'd keep the locking cap stops tea leafs nicking your petrol

 

As a footnote though Colin i'm gonna have to remove the webasto roof off me model now and change the fuel cap too
