i know its not osf but its a mini problem

ma gf just bought a mini and i was doing some rust work for her today under the passenger side front light and the whole light unit just come off in my hand so i pushed it back in but it seems like the unti will fall out wen you hit the brakes or something is their any way of fixing it in coz i cant find anywere it could be fixed too.... the other side is fixed in nice and sturdy but i dont know how its fixed.

 

i know alot of you osf enthusiast probably had minis if not still got one and wondered if you had any advice????

 

 

 

my gfs mini is faster than my escort this shouldnt be aloud lol how embarrasing.

I think you'll need to get a couple of self tappers and those clips that go behind the the screw holes.

just stick some self tappers in or nut and bolt...im assuming its the sealed beam unit fitted

it has like 2 rubber prongs coming out the back but their is no way to hold it in place the only thing i can thingk of is a circlip or something like that?

Take of the screw holding the chrome ring over the light, then depending on whether the light unti is still attacthed to the plastic bowl.

split light unit from bowl, drill some new holes through bowl into wing (3 in a triangle position will do nicely)

Then re-attached light unit to adjusters or failing that just put a few more self tappers in to hold light unit in place and re-fit chrome ring.

 

and jobs a good-un

 

only thing if the adjusters are missing and you screw unit in you'll have to take it all apart at mot time to sort out headlamp aims

You will have to split it all to re-fit it nicely then m8, the 2 rubber prongs don't actually scre into the wing they are just there for the adjusters to screw into.

 

the actual circle bit the prongs are on is the bit you want to screw through into the wing.

Yeah, two rubber prongs on the grommet and a couple of holes for screws in the plastic (or metal) headlamp bowl. I think one is down towards the bottom and another is at about 2 o clock.

the whole unit is made up with 6 peices

 

rubber gasket

 

the bowl

 

metal sealed beam holder (inner)

 

sealed beam unit

 

 

then sealed beam holder (outter)

 

 

then top cover

 

 

 

just stick some nuts and bolts through the bowl and gasket if no nuts on the wing
